london777 Great job!! I'm so glad you got the Abel Gance version in there. Probably my favorite of all, though certainly not the most conventional. If you think of Napoleon as "a man of destiny" or "a spirit of the age" as the French did during the Romantic period, then Gance and Dieudonne have captured that spiritual quality. You "liked" while I was still struggling to load the pics correctly. I have tidied up a bit now. It was an epic struggle. I might write a two-volume novel about it called "Cut and Paste".

Einar Wallquist (1896 - 1985) a doctor who became known as the Lappdoktorn way up in northern Sweden were there don't live many people, and those who live there lives very far apart, he wrote books about his experiences, and he came in contact with the Laps who couldn't pay with money and instead payed in silver (so much so that he donated it all when he retired to create a Museum of Lap Art), one of his books got filmed as Kan doktorn komma? 1942 (loosely translated as Can the Doctor Come?) Einar Wallquist was played by Olof Widgren (1907 -1999)

teleadm The Einar Wallquist story sounds amazing. Thanks so much for the introduction. He wrote around 20 books, but sadly I haven't found if anyone of them has been translated to English. A pic from the museum he donated all his Lap art and history over the years, if he was greedy he would have sold all the silver and become a rich man.

You've restored a bit of my faith in humanity, teleadm. Thanks again.

Apologies if this one has already been posted previously (I did check back at least ten pages, but didn't spot it anywhere - though I may have missed it). Bel Powley and Sarah Gadon as Princesses Margaret and Elizabeth in the movie A Royal Night Out.

Chalice_Of_EvilPretty sure that is a new one and even if not .. that's fine ! I will have to watch for A Royal Night Out. I remember there was a radio program I heard ages and ages (and ages) ago about the Princesses getting to go outside with the crowds on VE Day.

Bel Powley and Sarah Gadon as Princesses Margaret and Elizabeth in the movie A Royal Night Out. A rare occasion when the real people are better-looking than the actors portraying them.

Spider-
Thanks for digging up a pictured of Marc Blizstein. I am a fan of his wonderful Airbourne Symphony. If you can find the version narrated by Orson Welles, you have a real treasure. Back in my days of producing radio programs, we featured his opera "Regina" which is based on "The Little Foxes" and his very short-lived Broadway musical, "Juno" based on "Juno and the Paycock" featuring Shirley Booth and Melvyn Douglas. That story was made into an early film by Alfred Hitchcock.
No one has put up pictures of the Gershwins yet!

spiderwortre: to make sure I wasn't going to duplicate anything before posting,
I would say don't worry about duplicating... there would most likely not be the same images in any case. Very pleased with how well this thread has been going... thanks to ALL of the Posters !
