I've watched the Oscars every year since 1965, when Julie Christie won for Darling. For years and years, the show would attract BIG stars, from current Hollywood to the golden age. In the last several years, however, I've noticed that very few REAL stars attend the event or give out the statuettes.
First, I gotta ask--what ever happened to the dude who won Best Actor for the Artist?
Back to the matter at hand. Where are THESE stars?
Jane Fonda Eva Marie Saint Shirley Jones Clint Eastwood Jane Powell Margaret O'Brian Darryl Hickman Jane Withers Sophia Loren George Segal Mia Farrow Gena Rowlands Sigourney Weaver Arnold Schwarzenegger Al Pacino Diane Keaton
The list goes on and on. Instead, we get unrecognizable faces and flashes in the pan. Ryan Gosseling? Is he our idea of a MOVIE STAR?

Does Hollywood really have stars anymore?
I think the Oscars and awards nights in general is just the "In Crowd" giving the chosen few a pat on the back. The best don't always win, and how do you really compare very different films and actors anyway?
