Good question. I mean, yeah I was one of five people underwhelmed by LOGAN but I'm not gonna pout if it earns a nod for BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY. What bothers me is that are gonna be films that were either performed modestly, were ignored or even panned that have redeeming qualities but will be ignored. A CURE FOR WELLNESS had some outstanding cinematography and camerawork but will that be nominated? THE GREAT WALL and THE ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE had beautiful costumes. THE LOST CITY OF Z featured stellar production details but I doubt the Academy will even recall its title in three months.

I don't want any nominations for any movie where the main character(s) wear a cape and/or tights, where any character can fly or leap tall buildings with a single bound or has any other kind of super powers, where the climax is a huge CGI battle with lots of property damage, where the protagonist is disabled, is a sequel, part of a series, a spin-off, a movie based on a decades old TV show, a movie based on a decades old movie, a movie with cute feisty old people, any that can even vaguely be deemed "horror," any "Christian" movie...be back later; gotta stop for a deep breath.

I understand what point you are making but some really do root against certain movies as well. Might I be annoyed if possibly my pick got nommed? Maybe but i am not doing any boycotting at all either.

I don't mind Shape of Water getting some tech nods and even acting nods, but I'd prefer they stop there.

I won't be happy if Wonder Woman gets a Best Picture nod over movies like Blade Runner 2049 or A Ghost Story.

If 'Wonder Woman' and 'Get Out' get the Oscar love I'll be annoyed. I liked them both but I only see one logical nod for either of them. For Wonder Woman, best original score and then for Get Out, Best Original Screenplay. And even that's up in the air due to the tight race just between the prestige movies gobbling up nominations.

I feel like at this juncture it will score best picture and best actor nods, also peele for directing as well.

New answer: Lady Bird. Laurie Metcalf can get in (mainly because I just like Laurie Metcalf), but otherwise, shut that s*** out.

It's a shame it was released too late in the States, but I honestly think Paddington 2 and Hugh Grant would have been a serious consideration for a nomination
