Wiped the slate clean and rebooted the franchise? This would mean the original trilogy wouldn't be Canon anymore and would let Disney recast any of the classic characters if they wish to reuse them.

No. I don’t love any of the films but no.
They can just go thousands of years in the past with entirely new characters if they want a reimagining.

They're not going to do that. They are having incredible success by expanding the existing franchise. It would be idiotic to reboot it.

At this point, I actually think that might cause some unhinged fans to attempt a violent attack.

Is this a trick question? They rebooted it already in 2015.

Eh. Whatever. I've already given up on Disney giving us a good Star Wars film... at least anytime soon. Maybe in 20 years or so. No matter what, I'll always have the Original Trilogy.

Honestly would a reboot be any worse than what we just got? The story has officially gone to shit now anyway, what's the difference? As somebody pointed out earlier, we'll always have the OT.

I haven't trusted Disney with Star Wars since TFA arrived.

Rebooting would mean more rehash and more repainted space ships. What the franchise needs are story ideas, creativity and proper worlds building. Disney Lucasfilm has completely failed on delivering these core ingredients making the Star Wars Universe work. Nostalgia, lame humor and mystery boxes instead. Well, the repainted spaceships have already run out of gas and the moofs were milked dry.
