This month I decided to go through Rush's discography for the first time in a long time. Since I've been listening to them I've been seeing them crop up everywhere. First, Lost in Vegas (only YouTube reaction channel I watch) did a video for YYZ:
Then a few days ago I was browsing channels for something to watch while I ate, landed on Family Guy, which I rarely watch anymore, and they did a Neil Peart joke:
A few days ago a local radio station was doing a little Rush marathon. Finally yesterday I stumbled on an AXSTV Rush special where they played a documentary, a "great albums" episode, and I think a concert.
Is there some kind of Rush revival happening that I was unaware of? If not, it's pretty serendipitous, and pretty cool too since I thought that Rush was more of a cult band.

You should be up here in Canada, they are in constant rotation with every DJ at Tim Horton's.

Early stages of Prog? 1981? I don't think so.

Early stages of Prog? 1981? I don't think so. I think they meant prog metal. Lost in Vegas are mostly hip-hop guys who've been stretching out into metal and getting lots of different recs in the comments, including lots of modern prog metal that they were rather ambivalent towards. Some had listed Rush as being the first prog metal band (I don't agree with classifying them as metal, but there's no doubting their influence) and suggested they check them out for something more accessible.

Agreed. Since they are CanCon (Canadian Content), one can be assured that a song or 2 by Rush is played on the local rock radio station every day.
I mean....not that I'm complaining about that or anything. I have been a fan of Rush for....as long as I can remember.
I LOVE the video to "Subdivisions".
Last season on "The Goldbergs", Rush was featured. There is a character (Johnny Adkins) who ALWAYS wears a Rush T-Shirt. At the end of the episode, Erica and Lainey did an amusing rendition of "Tom Sawyer" for the talent show.
I stopped the episode about half way thru so I could put on a Rush CD.

Joker's Wilde Which one? I'm on my third run-through of their discography. That run from 2112 to Moving Pictures is truly superb and it's hard for me to pick a favorite... I may have a slight preference for Permanent Waves and Hemispheres. There's a lot of good stuff on their other 80s stuff, and their newer albums have been surprisingly great as well after a rather weak 90s run.

I am a big fan of April Wine, Triumph, Saga, The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Honeymoon Suite, Loverboy, Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette and own all of their albums and I think April Wine and Triumph are two of Canada's most underrated bands. Some others I would add on to that you may have not heard of are Kim Mitchell, Trooper, Chiliwack, Glass Tiger, Max Webster, Headpins, Toronto, Coney Hatch, Blue Rodeo, Bif Naked, the Northern Pikes, Metropolis (Peter Fredette and Stan Meissner), Joydrop, The Dirtmitts, Sarah McLachlan, Bryan Adams, the Wilkinsons, Mackenzie Porter, One More Girl, Madeline Merlo, Shania Twain, Anne Murray, Jane Arden, Chantal Kreviazuk, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Michelle Wright, Doc Walker, Emerson Drive, Paul Brandt, George Canyon, Lisa Brokop, Patricia Conroy, Wyatt, Hey Romeo, Autumn Hill, High Valley and Hawk Nelson.

I was going to but I decided to hold her off until I mentioned some Country Music artists and bands. Mackenzie has said she is going to finally release her long awaited second album this year but she has been very busy with her acting career. I don't know if you have heard of the show 'Travelers' but she is the main star of it and the second season was just released on Netflix recently. As much as I like her acting I am hoping she focuses more on her music this year 'cause she is a very talented singer. The Headpins are a good band but are very underrated and a lot of Canadian Rock bands I didn't know about until I discovered them on the internet 'cause they weren't played here on radio. I am surprised some of them weren't a lot bigger worldwide.
