Honestly maybe that's how it should end. Both are responsible for a lot of death and destruction through out the Star Wars lore.
Honestly at this point I wish Kylo Ren was the protagonist.

In spirit? Perhaps. In practice? Fuck that. That would mean no more lightsaber fights. As long as the Force exists, there shall always be Jedi and Sith. Hell, as long as Star Wars exists...

That's my take. I'm in it so long as the Sith and Jedi are in it and are represented by interesting characters. Grey Jedi? Nope. I'm out. This funky idea that you're not supposed to fight and destroy evil and the Journal of the Whills tells us to let the lion lay down with the lamb? No thanks.

No, that's silly. Without the Jedi/Sith, it isn't Star Wars. It's just another generic science fiction, fantasy movie. It's like Disney is eliminating every ingredient that makes the series what it is. It's troubling.

Jedi and Sith represent very specific factions of force users. I'm fine with Luke's idea that Jedi and Sith should become history. But that doesn't mean that good force users and evil force users won't continue to exist. Luke should have been like "Rey, I don't want you to be a Jedi. But you're gonna be a force user so I might as well teach you to be a good force user and hope you avoid becoming an evil force user."

There can still be lightsaber fights. It's more of destroying two out dated religions that have been responsible for millions (going by the original EU books and comics), possibly more, deaths through the galaxy. I like the idea of having a antagonist who basically views both equally as bullshit. Kinda like how i view modern religions.

~ George Lucas
As long as we are telling this story, overlaid with a serial family drama with the Force, I'm good. I'm not too concerned if the terms "Jedi" or "Sith" are attached to specific characters. There will still be good and evil to wrestle with.

Would be nice if they were actually doing that the last two movies...

But I still see that aspect to this part of the story. Luke's realization of the mistakes trying to replicate the Jedi, Snoke's own hubris in that he had it all figured out and was in control of everything dark. As good as Lucas, no way, errors in where characters are taken, absolutely. I still see the core story.

It's internally inconsistent drivel. The first two sentences of the crawl are contradictory. It's(TLJ) a terrible, terrible movie. The core story is nonsense. Rey is the new god and regardless of all the death everyone is just happy to be on the Falcon at the end. It's not intelligent, it's not interesting.
Why people are making this out to be more than the idiotic subversive movie that Rian set out to make is beyond me.
