What are your ideas of favorite American Piano Concertos? I love Leroy Anderson's piano concerto. It is bold, yet nostalgic in sound too. Listen to that middle movement particularly. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-LB0z1IzhE

An old friend (literally old, when I was young) introduced me to the MacDowell #2 many years ago. I used to listen to it on a regular basis but haven't for years now. Your thread reminded me how much I used to like it. I'm going to give it another listen in the next day or so. Thanks.

I've always enjoyed Barber's concerto, with its beautiful slow movement.

I confess I have heard very few American piano concertos, but it's hard to imagine anything coming close to moving me as does Concerto in F, by George Gershwin. That piece tears me up, making it most definitely NSFW.
However, being a great fan of Leroy Anderson's short pieces, I will have to check out his piano concerto. And adding in McDowell and Barber, looks like I'll have some fun searching on (and listening to) YouTube...as if I didn't spend enough time there already, LOL.
Thanks for the recommendations, guys!

The only one I know and like, if it's classed as a concerto, is Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue".
