Have any of you seen this? I finished it a couple days ago and haven't been able to stop thinking about it. It's a deeply affecting film that was both thought provoking and heartbreaking. Why is this getting no award attention? It's better than half the films that are getting attention and a lot more important as well.

I haven't watched it yet, but I'm going to see it soon (maybe today). I'll post my thoughts after I've seen it.

I feel like this is also a perfect film for endless discussion. I'd be curious to hear some thoughts on that monologue. I don't think any scene from a film I've seen made me think as much as that monologue did.

The monologue was pretty effective for me, but I still think the visual storytelling better illustrated the philosophy that it got across. Not that it wasn't good, hearing such a nihilistic view be explained so eloquently is chilling (but not necessarily anything new). As far as the actual content of the monologue goes... it's stuff I think about all the time, stuff that keeps me up at night.

I agree, what the film conveyed through very with very little dialogue was amazing. The content of the monologue is stuff that keeps me up at night as well and hearing it like that was powerful and haunting.

It has Rooney Mara in it, hence I won't give it a try.

For me it's gotta be the beautiful ending where it plays the Daniel Hart's 'History' as Ghost C sees his life with his wife before finally moving on to the afterlife. Basically the entire last 10 minutes. As I've stated earlier in this thread, the monologue was also a deeply affecting scene for me. What about you?

Probably my favorite film of 2017, admittedly I haven't seen a lot 2017 films. So beautiful, haunting and minimal. The monologue was cool, but I wonder if it may have worked even better without it. 9/10

I'll go with the 19th Century scene but that could change on rewatch.

I finally got around to watching A Ghost Story. I watched many movies last week, but for this one I really wanted to sit down and take my time with it. I didn't want to rush it or watch it in multiple parts. I watched it earlier today and it was a beautiful experience. Movies like this are very rare and it's even rarer when they're executed this perfect. It's an rollercoaster of emotions and delivers such a powerful message without shoving it down your troat. I also have no idea why this isn't getting awards attention. It should at least be a Best Picture contender imo. The way this movie handles the concept of time and legacy is just unbelievable. Easily one of my favorite movies of 2017.

I think its not getting oscar buzz simply because of wrong time of distribution and the film being So under-budget (actors did it all for free etc) that they dont have enough to lobby for it I think. I would certainly nominate it for Best Picture, Screplay or at least Director if I had a voice it had the level of uniqueness and depth that I think the those categories are there for. Marvelous idea and so heartbreaking with so little words. Bravo.
