"From the mind of John Carpenter comes the towering adventure that thunders across Los Angeles and explodes 30 stories above it!"Sam Quint (Tommy Lee Jones) is a bit of a loose cannon, as he once used to be a master thief but who now mainly does the dirty work for the feds, and his latest task is to get his hands on a highly classified computer disc that is supposed to be brought up to court in order to try and bring down a powerful but very suspicious corporation. But the mission soon turns out to be a rollercoaster of surprises when the disc suddenly ends up in the hands of another thief (Linda Hamilton), and it is not gonna be easy to get it back, as she is also the brand new owner of the fastest and most expensive high-tech vehicle in the world, the Black Moon. I quite enjoy this little sci-fi/action thriller that was written by John Carpenter and stars Tommy Lee Jones and Linda Hamilton in the leads in a cat and mouse adventure, and are backed by a likeable display of well known faces such as Robert Vaugh, Bubba Smith, William Sanderson, Nick Cassavetes and Don Keith Opper. The film is far away of being a great one, however I always enjoyed it for its fast paced fun, a young 1980s Linda Hamilton and she often seemed to take on parts where strange men are following her and here Tommy Lee Jones seems to have either been inspired or pretty much "borrowed" some of Arnie's gear from The Terminator as it sure looks like he was getting ready to take on the T-800 role a few times out in this movie. All in all, I thought about putting it up in the Sci-fi section but I think it is more of a action paced adventure not that far off other similar super-car titles from the 80s such as The Wraith which also was released the same year. I thought about putting up a trailer but I do not think it does the film any justice, so instead I will re-post this fantastic catchy retro-wave tune by Electric Youth which features the great car chase from Black Moon Rising.

Always had a soft spot for this cult film. Absurd, but ultra-smooth chase/heist caper with some spectacular set-pieces and high-stakes stunts. The cast are perfect too. It would have been interesting to see Carpenter direct his own screenplay though.
