THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY.
There are many other excellent westerns, but there are none better.

I'd say Unforgiven for now, although there's quite a lot I haven't seen still.

I only have 2 posters in my apartment, and The Good the Bad and the Ugly is one of them.

You have good taste.
But what's the other one?

For my money, "The Good the Bad the Ugly"
Now, Post 2000:
"True Grit" "The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" "Open Range"
are my Top 3

"The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"
The thing I love most about that film title is that you don't need to see the film.
The title says it all.

For A Few Dollars More. I agree with Sir Christopher Frayling in that it is a tighter film than The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on a detailed scene-by-scene level.
Leone made three masterpieces in a row so it doesn't really matter which one of them I vote. Since FAFDM is not available my poll vote goes to GBU. Could have just as well been Once Upon a Time in The West.

God, I love all Leone westerns. I'll go Once upon a time in the West just to balance it a little bit

Questions: Is that True Grit 1969 or 2010?
Why isn't The Outlaw Josey Wales on that list?!

I selected "Unforgiven," which is my 2nd overall western.
My #1 fav? 2007's "3:10 to Yuma."

Favorite or greatest western? Probably "High Noon".
Don't get me wrong. I like Leone's westerns with "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" being very good. But "Once Upon a Time in the West" is probably my favorite Leone film.
Other great westerns? "Unforgiven".
Imo, BB ;-)

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly but there are other great ones. I will make a special mention of "Shane".

True Grit is the 2010 movie while Stagecoach is the original 1939 version.

I'd prefer the '69 version of True Grit as well.
