No The Thing and no Hallowe'en. That would be too easy.

If you had included Memoirs of an Invisible Man, I would've chosen that.
I pick Starman from the options available.

Escape from New York. My favorite Carpenter movie period and weirdly enough, was just revisiting last night.

Assault on Precinct 13. His absolute best IMO. I like it more than The Thing and Halloween.

I pick They Live. But I like others on there such as Escape from New York, Starman and Big trouble in Little China. I like the Thing 1982 and also the prequel the Thing 2011. IIRC Kurt Russell was in BTILC and Escape from New York, other movies I like with him are Breakdown - 1997 - JT Walsh, Kathleen Quinlan, Jack Noseworthy, MC Gainey Overboard - with Goldie Hawn Tombstone - haven't seen that one for a while. Executive Decision - with Steven Seagal, John Leguizamo, Oliver Platt, David Suchet, Halle Berry, one actor I don't remember his name, he has a moustache and was in the Fugitive and one episode of Diagnosis Murder and Star Trek Voyager. Richard something?
Starman - If it's the one I am thinking of, that has Karen Allen and Jeff Bridges? I remember her in Indiana Jones 1 and 4. Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I like the Big Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) and he was in Arlington Road with Joan Cusack, Tim Robbins.

An excellent list of JC Films here NxNWRocks which made it quite tricky to narrow down to just one for me also . However my vote was for - " Assault on Precinct 13 " which IMPO was considered to be a most underrated JC Film of it's time too . As for the rest of this fine list my order was as follows - 2. Big Trouble in Little China ( a memorable cult classic ) 3. Prince of Darkness ( another underrated film - IMPO ) 4. They Live ( also an underrated film - IMPO ) 5. Starman ( a definite JC sentimental favorite too ) 6. The Fog ( a considered cult classic - IMPO ) 7. Escape from New York ( Love watching this one back to back with Escape from L.A. ) 8. In the Mouth of Madness ( Effectively twisted & eerie - a good creepy flick indeed ) ** Also all of the music scores for these films are truly memorable too Thanks NxNWRocks for your subject post .

As pure entertainment go, Big Trouble in Little China would get my vote, but I think Escape from New York is slightly the better film, so this is not an easy one. 10/10 both of em'.
The Thing would probably have gotten my vote for the best but since it is not included I end up with Escape from New York, still my favorite is Big Trouble in China.
