"So... where are the chicks?"A group of freshmen tries desperately to overcome any obstacle during hell week and which will decide if they are indeed worthy to be seen as upcoming members in a brotherly fraternity. However, things end up taking a rather different kind of route, as the place is about to be haunted by an old and cruel joke gone horribly wrong during the wild 60s, and where the students of today is suddenly forced to fight for their lives against a former brother known as Acid Sid.During Halloween and the October Challenge I picked up again on this little late 80s slasher b-movie and found it to be still a lot of fun. Pledge Night aka Dead Night (1988) is a rather well made independent horror film, and one that took me by surprise. It is a fun combination of teen-sex comedies and slasher, with female nudity some decent gore and lots of silly and goofy moments and are backed up by a cool soundtrack by Anthrax. The film pretty much starts up as yet another 80s teen-sex comedy, lots of T & A and characters that might not have felt all to unwelcome in films such as Animal House or Porky's, however things began to get cooking when the sadistic ex-rocker known as Acid Sid decides to crash the party and kill everybody in sight. He sure ain't no Freddy or Jason, but still for such a low budget title I was more than well entertained by what went on. I am glad I found it, as it is one of the few late 80s slashers that I really enjoyed and seeing it again made me think I did the right choice by keeping it.
