I honestly wish these movies had stopped after part 3. I recently watched part 4, 5, 6 and 7...and hated them. They became ridiculous. I liked 4, and even though Jason became a cartoon character starting with 6 I still dig it. I agree with 5 and 7 though, I didn't care much for those. I think part 3 is my favorite of them...next to part 2. Plus part 3 has that groovy disco intro. lol

I'm probably going to be stoned for even asking this, but does anyone else actually really like "A New Beginning?"

Awesome. I also appreciated it for trying something different with the franchise. Bringing back Jason was probably the worst decision they could have made in the long run, since the films that came after "Jason Lives" were clutching at straws increasingly.

Adding comedy, adding a James Bond intro for Jason - I knew up to that point that he became a pop icon rather than a scary character in Jason lives...
Part V still had that old Friday feeling...

I have pretty fond memories of part 3. I remember as a kid we had a Cleveland station and a station out of Detroit and each would run a week long horror film block. Usually part 3 and part 6 were the two Friday films they would show. Never got to see it in 3D though.

The quality of the first six films is very high. By "quality," I don't mean the acting or production value. Those are quite poor, but the makers of those first six films knew what a Friday film was and they gave it to the audience. After Part VI, the franchise became self-aware. You can tell that the makers had become aware of the tropes rather than were just using the tropes to make a standard entry. Still, Parts 7 and 8 are enjoyable on a schlock level. With Parts 9 and 10, they eschewed standard formula for a different direction. Part 9 is a decent horror film, but it's disappointing as a Friday the 13th film. Part X is also fun from a different perspective, but by that point, we hadn't seen a standard Friday the 13th since Part 5 (I mean a standard formula; I recognize that Part V isn't standard in other ways). The remake was okay, but it lacked the fun of its predecessors. Also, as with all films after Part VI, it was too self aware of being a Friday the 13th entry.
I love the franchise overall, though. I don't think any other franchise has six entries as strong in quality as Friday the 13th.

The real question is... who is the cutest Friday the 13th girl? I still like the one from part 2. The chic who's putting on make up in her panties... Nah. Can't beat Dana Kimmell from Part 3. But anyhoo...Part VI ranks as my favourite. It has a great soundtrack, some of the best tension since Part 2, a decent story and its fair share of humour. Part 2 - with creepy hooded Jason and his backwoods shack - ranks as my #2 and the scariest of the bunch IMO.

Dana Kimmel is hot in her tight blue jeans... She reminds me of a girl I knew in college. Beautiful woman.
