A) Disappointing... Man of Steel. How on earth have we managed to screw up Superman. That's nearly impossible & yet here we are. B) Surprising... In Bruges. I blind bought the dvd because I was under the weather & craving something new cheap. Would make my top 100 if I had one, it's rather magnificent in its own little ways. C) Zero to hero... The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Insta. Perks was & is the only movie ever I went to re-watch within days a second time. My #32 all time. D) The Shawshank Redemption... it's pure corn. I don't do well with corn like it, The Natural, Sully, Lincoln, The Green Mile... etc. Even the middle 3/5ths of Saving Private Ryan keep me at bay. D) Agree to a point, but I don't hate. Sully and Lincoln for me were very mediocre films. If they hadn't had DDL or Tom Hanks staring or Steven Spielberg or Clint Eastwood directing, they would have been panned. I never got the craze for The Shawshank Redemption either. It wasn't bad, just not great.

I agree about Robin Hood. The trailers looked great and I had high expectations. It was trash. One movie I always remember seeing was The Matrix. I went to the movies to see any random movie and saw the poster for The Matrix. I honestly knew NOTHING about it. I never even saw a trailer. It just came out and back then the internet was not really a thing like it is today. I went in blind and it is still in my top ten favorite movies of all time.

A) Name a movie you were MOST looking forward to but it disappointed you so much...
Nine. The trailer looked spectacular and the cast was so interesting that i was eager to see it, they promoted that film very well
B) Name a movie you REALLY thought you would HATE, and it was great.
The Martian. I watched this as my obligation to watch every nominated film for the oscars and i had the worst expectations for it. First my hate for space movies and my hate for stuff like castaway, 127 hours and life of Pi so ohh and last but not least the year before that the nominees were one worse than the next one so o had nowhere to look for.
So when it started i was highly surprised that i wasn't hating it and the whole idea of him being able to communicate with the Nasa and his crew made the whole thing much better than i expected. It will never be my favorite movie but it definitely was a nice surprise against all odds against it,
C) Name a movie you had NO expectations for, just came across it, and now its one of your favorites.
Legally Blonde, me and my family went to see it because it was the first film available to watch at that hour we went to the theaters and we all loved it.
D) Finally, name a film EVERYONE loves, and you HATE. true grit i felt asleep in the first 5 minutes of the film, actually i don't like the Cohen Brothers.

A) Name a movie you were MOST looking forward to but it disappointed you so much...
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Bad, bad, bad....
B) Name a movie you REALLY thought you would HATE, and it was great.
Kingsman: The Secret Service. Since I don't watch movies I think I will hate I'll pick one that I didn't think I would like that much. The church-scene is one of the best I've seen.
C) Name a movie you had NO expectations for, just came across it, and now its one of your favorites.
50/50. Had zero expectations on this and watched it because I think Gordon-Levitt and Kendricks are pretty good, but it was Seth Rogen that did the best work imo and it's up there among my favorites
D) Finally, name a film EVERYONE loves, and you HATE. Apocalypse Now. Granted it was a long time ago since I watched it but I will not watch it again so my impressions from that time stands.

A) Avengers: Age of Ultron B) The Neon Demon C) Edge of Tomorrow D) Lord of the Rings Edge of Tomorrow is a good choice. I didn't think I would like it, but a friend of mine recommended it. She put it like this: If I liked Tom Cruise, I get to see a good Tom Cruise movie. If I hate Tom Cruise, I get to see him die over and over again. It was such a great movie.

A) Name a movie you were MOST looking forward to but it disappointed you so much... Independence Day: Resurgence. I also second Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. A lot of missed opportunities in both films.
B) Name a movie you REALLY thought you would HATE, and it was great. Despicable Me. It exceeded my expectations
C) Name a movie you had NO expectations for, just came across it, and now its one of your favorites.
Arrival. I was expecting a run of the mill sci-fi flick. It's actually a think piece. I loved it so much, I bought it immediately.
D) Finally, name a film EVERYONE loves, and you HATE.
Frozen. Too many annoying songs and characters. That film thinks it is much smarter than it is.

I agree with many of the above, so I'll try to pop some new ones in.
A) Eager to see but disappointed:
"Alien Resurrection." Ugh. I wanted it to stop at Alien3, but since Sigourney Weaver was coming back as Ripley, I thought it might be good. Learned more about the cast and saw some promotional stills. "Well this might actually be pretty damn good!" Biggest letdown ever. Liked the score though.
Runners up include "Batman V Superman," "Star Wars Episode I," "Cowboys vs Aliens," and "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull."
B) Thought I'd hate but I loved:
"Jason X." Hands down. Everything about it looked stupid and over the top, and I only saw it because I was on a date when it came out and the cinema had problems with its other two screens. It was our only option so we figured we'd go have a laugh. I don't know what she thought, but I loved every single minute of it. It knew exactly what it was and what it was doing.
C) No expectations and liked:
"Vanilla Sky." Rented this on a whim from Blockbuster shortly after it came out. I was in my teens and crushed hard on Penelope Cruz. I rented this movie solely because I just got a VCR for my bedroom and a friend told me you saw her topless. This was pre-internet (in my house anyway), so this was big news. Saw it and got lost in it...I don't know what it is about it, but it totally sucked me in.
D) Everyone loves it, I hate it:
"Lord of the Rings." I never read the books, so maybe a lot of it was lost on me. Couldn't make it through any of them (in the theater included) without falling asleep. It just felt like a bunch of people wandering around occasionally impressed by something. "Look, it's the Wall of Blurgadur!!!" ::Giant thing, wide shot, music cue:: "OK, guys, let's keep walking. We'll never see or mention that again, but we had to check it out a second."

A) Name a movie you were MOST looking forward to but it disappointed you so much.
Inferno.
B) Name a movie you REALLY thought you would HATE, and it was great.
None that I can think of. I don’t make a habit of watching movies that I think I’m going to hate, and if I am forced to watch any, they don’t usually change my opinion of them.
C) Name a movie you had NO expectations for, just came across it, and now its one of your favorites.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
D) Finally, name a film EVERYONE loves, and you HATE.
Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Phantom Menace.
I've never been much of a Star Wars fan, but the trailer for this made it look amazing. Then I saw the film, and it sucked donkey balls. So did both of the sequels, but I was braced for it with them.

A) Name a movie you were MOST looking forward to but it disappointed you so much... - The Last Airbender. Big fan of the TV series it's based on, and was so psyched for this movie.....*sigh*
B) Name a movie you REALLY thought you would HATE, and it was great. - Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I figured the gas had long run out on this franchise. I was wrong.
C) Name a movie you had NO expectations for, just came across it, and now its one of your favorites. - Eve's Bayou. Saw it as part of a film class knowing basically nothing about it going in. What a phenomenal film!

I was really looking forward to "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace". Sigh.
I thought I would hate "2001: A Space Odyssey", but I loved it.
I had no expectations for "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". It was hilarious. I loved it.
Ok, I'll say it, I saw "The Shawshank Redemption" once, and that was enough for me.
