Shut the hell up, tapeworm. Hit a nerve, did I? If you claim that your kind provide any benefit for the religious, faithful, and spiritual, here's your chance to spill it on the board for everyone to see.

He hasn't answered yet.

Your problem is that, like it or not, we are all equal here. There is no designation of host nor parasite. Those are your erroneous designations.

Have you ever convinced anyone that God exists outside of religious cults? I've never tried to convince anyone, inside or outside of religious cults.

Some of them can be annoying in different and also similar ways and can be judgmental and generalize opposing sides without really knowing anything about each other. I think the issue is that people put stereotypes on religious people and atheists alike that really have nothing to do with them or what they believe or don't believe. I talked to a guy that believed atheists think that there is no purpose in life and have a negative outlook on life and I told him right away that was actually just a stereotype about atheists and not even close to being true.. Atheism is just simply lacking belief in God or gods. Not believing that there is a purpose in life is completely separate and has nothing to do with atheism. People who believe there is no purpose in life are just negative people in general regardless of what they call themselves. There are also many stereotypes about religious people and Christians especially. The most annoying stereotype put on religious people is that they're judgmental when in reality it's judgmental to call someone judgmental based on a false stereotype when you actually know nothing about them. Nothing annoys me more than the hypocrisy in that too. Another thing that bothers be about some atheists is that they claim to know for a fact God isn't real and have evidence when science neither prove or disproves God's existence. You can benefit from your own perspective of the universe that can make sense to you personally, but to claim you know more than religious people about the origins of the universe is pretty ignorant. I say there is no purpose (in general), but I wouldn't say I'm negative, just an "ontological realist," as opposed to someone choosing to believe a fantasy. Purposes are things that individuals have, just in case they have some purpose present-to-consciousness, or in other words, just insofar as an individual happens to be thinking about things in that way, where they're basically inventing some purpose for themselves. That means that purposes are ephemeral/fleeting and that they're highly variable. There's no overarching, universal purpose. And really, even individuals who think about things that way sometimes usually do no have a purpose present-to-consciousness. Also, yes I do claim to know for a fact that there is no god, but in that, I'm not saying anything about things like the origin of the universe, if there was indeed an origin. We don't know the answer there, but we can know that a god didn't have anything to do with it. It's just like if we wake up and find a spot of blood on our pillow. We may not know it's origin right away, but we can know that it's not from the tooth fairy getting into a knife fight with the sandman. I'm other words, we can know it's not from some absurd fantasy we're making up.

Both are very annoying. But I'm going to have to go with religious people. They are generally far more evil and dangerous. Atheists may be fools but they are harmless for the most part. Thoughts? I'm completely harmless & even the worst atheists can only wish they were dangerous. It's weird to link danger with annoyance though. In real life, I don;t run into enough whiny atheists to say they affect my life at all, so I guess I would have to go with the religious in a general sense of the word. There's just more of them.

I've never tried to convince anyone, inside or outside of religious cults. Inside a Christian religious cult, like Catholicism, they would already be convinced. Those that aren't religious then, are you saying you have never attempted to convince them that God does in fact exist? Not that I can ever recall. And why would I want to?

To use the symbiosis metaphor: The board is the host, the posters are the parasites. Their religious affiliation (or lack of) is irrelevant. More interesting is the question: Is religion a parasite to the human mind? Or is it more like a cancer or an allergy? Or a drug or a mental disease? I don't know. But sometimes it can be beneficial; sometimes detrimental. Not all parasites, viruses or opiates are the same.

Not that I can ever recall. And why would I want to? I was just wondering about your approach to own beliefs on here, and your interaction with other posters. I feel that most times where you are coming from, is because you feel most people don't believe in the God that you believe in, and you would like them too. Most Christians see Christ as the savior and in that notion, they would like others to wake up to this belief. Why do non-religious people say most or imply all religious folk think alike? Talk about annoying... The board is for opinions and statement making. For example, you seem to be pretty harsh on religion, but it never dawned on me that you were ranting on the basis of convincing me that I should leave as much as you were ranting about how much you don;t like it. Thus, I'm not sure if you follow the same intent or why you would think that would work to change people's mind.

Although I personally believe that there is a savior, I leave you to your belief that there is no savior, and I have no intention of convincing you that there is a savior. Hopefully that wasn't too "bigoted" for you.

What I was asking, is do you feel that others should feel that there is a savior also, based on your Christian beliefs? If not, what accounts for any bigoted beliefs you may have? You have gone on record regarding your disdain for homosexuality for a start. I already answered this.

People unfortunately do that with every category. They act as if all married people think and act alike, or all baseball players, or all transgenders, or all Georgians, or all Italians, or all blacks, etc. You see this all the time, including on this board.

What is the point in believing in a savior, when I thought one of the rudimentary aspects of being Christian, is to share that belief and the only way out of suffering is through the belief in Christ the Savior?
Anyone who says they don't want people to think more in harmony with their thinking is lying. that has little to do with preaching or proselytizing about it though. I don't care what you personally do even if I want people in general to make correct choices based on what my of correct is. I am more than happy to preach to/educate people that want it since so many clearly don;t know a hoot about belief. THAT is the Christian teaching. However, I've got better things to do than waste my time on people that don't and that is backed up by Jesus' teachings as well... the whole pearls before swine example. The majority of my time here is simply to correct incorrect thinking, like now, and that's primarily for fun since it rarely changes anything.

Toasted CheeseYou not understanding something is funny to you? Well, you are missing enough of the statement to imply they aren;t two seperate things. Was that the iontent. Otherwise, what's the issue? Are you preaching, correcting, or just being annoying with this comment? Of course I am. it's easy. I could and probably do school you any day of the week.
