GREAT BALLS OF FIRE! has a lot of the elements that make biopics work: A great lead performance, irresistible music and a real-life controversy that makes the audience debate on whether we should root for the protagonist or not. The problem is that, when the darker side of the story (alcoholism and domestic abuse) arrives, it's treated in the same way as the light moments: Through a montage set to a catchy song. And then... the movie ends. I can't stress this enough: The movie just ends all of the sudden with no closure. Did a ball of fire burn some of the footage? 2/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).
