Thanks Biz. With all the double episodes they are currently airing of Season 3 of 'Gotham' on Fox 8 I don't think it will be too long before we see the fourth season and I am looking forward to seeing The Scarecrow and Solomon Grundy.

Sooo....Deb, I want to address the elephant in the room. What did you think of the new Ivy? I haven't seen those episodes yet. They are airing episodes 21 and 22 of 'Gotham' Season 3 tomorrow night on Fox 8 and I can't seem to find 'Gotham' in the upcoming title search on the guide which sadly means they might be taking it off for a while but I will let you know what I think of her when I see Season 4 which hopefully should be sometime in the coming weeks and not October.

Well, we haven't seen the episodes with her yet. But based on the trailer I really like her. She's more like the IVy we all know and love. She seems colder, more confident, and has plant based powers.

She seems colder, more confident, and has plant based powers. Oh they haven't? I was under the impression the episodes with the new Poison Ivy must have with the way they have been talking about it on news sites and I also thought they had shown at least one episode with the new Scarecrow. The replacement of the actor playing the Scarecrow hasn't caused much outrage among fans like it did with Maggie Geha so I assume he mustn't have been very popular or people see him as being replaceable. I will find out when the show returns 'cause from what I read the Scarecrow is in the start of Season 4 and he plays a significant role in some of the episodes. With Poison Ivy I still think they rushed her character and would have liked to have seen her as Dr. Pamela Isley before she become Poison Ivy but I am looking forward to seeing her plant based powers and I don't think they will have her fully capable of using all of them at first or she would be unstoppable. Speaking of Ivy I know I sent this to you earlier but I thought you and some other members might be interested in this.
What are your thoughts on Poison Ivy as good? The character has gone back and forth from being good and bad in the comic books but as of late it appears she has turned a new leaf much like Harley and could be on her way to becoming a hero of her own. Some fans are against it 'cause we have had so many other female villains in the Bat Universe turn good and Catwoman has pretty much been a hero for the last 40 years in a lot of the comic books and regularly helps Batman and the Bat Family, Lady Shiva goes back and forth, Onyx become a hero, Harley Quinn is a hero now and Talia and Nyssa go back and forth. The only female villains in the Bat Universe that have been full villains that have stayed bad have been Nocturna, Knightfall, The Absence, Roxy Rocket, Bonebreaker, Madame Zodiac, Jane Doe, Bruno and Joker's daughter but it is worth noting Clayface is now a reformed hero, The Riddler went good for a while, Red Hood turned back good, Azrael has been good and bad (although there have been multiple characters under that name) and Mr Freeze has helped Batman multiple times. I like more nuance to an antagonist. I really liked Riddler being reformed and working as a PI in the comics; in fact, long term that's what I'd prefer his arc to be. Then there's the dichotomy of Two-Face, once a good man fractured. Loved how the animated series did The Judge as a third personality, trying to balance things out.
I could see Ivy walking a fine line. I don't think she has to necessarily be one or the other, but rather just someone who has their own objective in life; and she struggles reconciling what she considers right or wrong with those definitions held by others. The person with the strongest connection to Earth and forms of life that most take for granted, yet in her haste to declare war on humanity in defense of the plants, she forgets that she is still inherently the thing she rails against. That has to lead to some deep personal conflict.

I liked the Riddler being reformed too and I am surprised they didn't stick with that but I think more fans must have wanted him as a villain so they changed him back. A funny thing I heard about the new 'Detective Comics Rebirth' series with Clayface as a hero was they were originally going to make Killer Croc good 'cause of how popular he is but they decided a villain that had been known to eat people couldn't be reformed into a member of the Bat Family. I forgot about Two Face but you bring up a good point with him. Bruce and Harvey were friends in numerous adaptions before he become a villain and there was also one adaption where he dated Selina Kyle before he was Two Face and it made things personal between them when she was going to war against him. I don't know if you saw the recent 'Batman vs Two Face' movie with William Shatner playing Harvey Dent but Harvey was good at the end and he fought his evil side and saved Batman. With Poison Ivy she went good in 'Arkham Knight' too and sacrificed herself to save Gotham from the Scarecrow's toxins.

Yeah, Two-Face has bounced around a little; in his very first appearance his face was repaired and he went back to an ordinary life. I think in that story, people may have simply assumed he was bad based on his appearance, I'm not positive, but whatever happened during his brief disfigurement then, didn't preclude him from a normal life.... Until he got disfigured again...
Then there was the One Year Later story, following Infinite Crisis, where Bruce decides that he, Dick and Tim need to retrace at least some of Bruce's original journey around the world, to rediscover their mojo or whatever; and he trains a newly reconstructed Harvey to be the city's protector while they're gone. Naturally, soon after they return a year later, Harvey is no longer needed, or at least some part of his mind convinces him so, and compells him to pour acid on his face and become Two-Face again. I've been meaning to see the Batman 66 animated movies, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
