I love King Kong, but I think this looks absolutely terrible. I hate big cartoon CGI battles. What could have been... Just for curiosity sake what do you think about the 2005 Peter Jackson version? |

I"m thinking: 45M OW Domestic 125M Domestic total (Monster movies are usually front loaded) 450M World Wide I loved Jackson's Kong its in my top 5 movies, this however at best will be in my top 500. Unless it surprises me unlike the trailer. |

Unless it surprises me unlike the trailer. I agree. But I think this is going to be a very different Kong based on the trailers. I love how the island doesn't have dinosaurs but rather strange creatures. Its going to tie into Godzilla very well I think. If you go in comparing I think you'll be disappointed but try and look at it as a Vietnam Kong reimagining with Godzilla ties rather than another remake. |

I think it looks great and different enough from the original, or any of the remakes that it will surprise audiences and critics.

Looks like it will be this year's Pacific Rim. Same budget, will underperform domestically but do much better overseas.

I really didn't like Peter Jackson's version upon 2nd and further of it, so I'm hoping this one is good. The first trailer didn't do too much for me, but the recent TV spots have me excited.
I'm also a bigger fan of King Kong than I am Godzilla, so I'm more excited about this one, though I did like the 2014 Godzilla.

Kong as outright villain for this film (setting up against hero Godzilla) may hurt its wider appeal yes? March is a weird month to make a lot of money.

I liked the John C. Reilly part in the trailer.
Not really into the big CGI battles but maybe I'll take my 11 year old if it's not too extreme.

I think it looks great, and I'm looking forward to it. I love the fact it isn't just King Kong, but a whole island of giant animals. That's kind of a fresh take on the story.
