Man, you're bringing back a lot of good memories. I love the Mario Kart games. Heck, I love Mario in general. Cannot wait to get my hands on Mario Odyssey. That game looks amazing. I'm even looking forward to this bit of weirdness. 'Super Mario Odyssey' is a great game and if you liked 'Super Mario 64' and 'Super Mario Sunshine' as much as I did I don't think you will be disappointed. It is the biggest sized Mario game ever made and there are so many things you can do in the worlds and there are a lot of Easter eggs to look out for too. Mario games are fantastic which is why I moved to Nintendo after having a Sega Master System and I love all the other characters in the Mario games too and the spin off games and one game I am playing now that I haven't played for a long time is 'Luigi's Mansion' and I forgot how much I enjoyed playing this game. Have you played any Kirby games? I asked you about Sonic and Donkey Kong but I don't recall asking you about Kirby.

Loved Mario 64. Never played Mario Sunshine. I was in a really dumb, anti-Nintendo place at the time, so I missed out on it. I have since learned the error of my ways and repented. I don't think I've played an Kirby games. Though I have played as him in Smash Bros. I've been playing Donkey Kong for a long, long time. In fact the first donkey Kong I played looked like this:

I've recently discovered a custom Nintendo 64 rom - Super Donkey Kong 64; which puts 64 Mario in the Donkey Kong 64 map; or at least an adapted version of it. They blend some elements from Super Mario 64 in, and it's challenging, in an annoying, "I should be beating this more easily" sort of way.

Never heard of that before. Heck, I don't even know what an eom is. Though I am familiar with customized games. I'm old but I'm not that old!

Typo, possibly changed by my phone. It should say rom, for an emulator. I like Project 64 emulator, though I had to change some settings to make this custom rom work.

Ah. That makes more sense. Should have inferred that from context. Sheesh. Thanks for the video. Looks good.

I don't think I've played an Kirby games. Though I have played as him in Smash Bros. I've been playing Donkey Kong for a long, long time. In fact the first donkey Kong I played looked like this: 'Super Mario Sunshine' was amazing and is still one of my favourite video games of all time. Some fans might not have liked it as much as the other 3D games but I loved Isle Delfino and the look and design of all the levels and 'Super Mario Odyssey' is the closest thing we have had to a follow up and is said to be inspired by 'Super Mario Sunshine.' I have lost count of how many times I have played 'Super Mario Sunshine' but I was playing it again a few weeks ago on my Nintendo Gamecube and I still love it and hope the rumours of Nintendo re-releasing it and other Gamecube games on the Nintendo Switch are true 'cause on the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Wii U they had Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and Nintendo Wii games but didn't have any Gamecube and I heard the main reason for that was there was something in the Gamecube that wasn't in the Wii U that didn't allow them to work but it is in the Nintendo Switch. I guess we will have to wait and see but I think there are a few Gamecube games that deserve to be re-released and 'Luigi's Mansion', 'Super Mario Kart Double Dash', 'Kirby Air Ride', 'Sonic Adventure DX', 'Sonic Adventure 2: Battle', 'Sonic Heroes', 'Kirby Air Ride', 'The Simpsons: Hit & Run' and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds' are others I loved playing on the Gamecube that I think should be re-released but sadly 'Buffy' and 'The Simpsons' seem unlikely with Fox blocking their old games from being re-released but they re-released 'Sonic Adventure 1 and 2' on the X Box 360 Marketplace before and I think Sega would be willing to re-release 'Sonic Heroes.'
I have been playing Donkey Kong for a long time too and have a lot of Donkey Kong games and 'Donkey Kong Country 2' was my favourite and I loved playing as Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong. You should check out some Kirby if you ever get a chance. There are a lot of them and Kirby is one of Nintendo most successful franchises. The first Kirby game I got was 'Kirby's Dream Land' on Gameboy (back when Kirby was white and not pink) and it quickly become one of my favourite games and I have bought ever other game since. The best Kirby games in my opinion have been the 3 'Kirby's Dream Land games', 'Kirby's Epic Yarn', 'Kirby's Adventure Wii', 'Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards', ' Kirby & the Amazing Mirror' and 'Kirby Triple Deluxe.' Here are some videos of 'Super Mario Sunshine' if you have never seen what it looks like.

Wow. That looks like an amazing game Stargazer. Thanks for letting us know about it. I loved 'Donkey Kong 64' and used to play it a lot on Nintendo 64 and it would be fun playing the levels as Mario. I am not too sure about how games like this work though. Do you need to have some type of emulator to run it or does that come with the download or do you need the original rom and have to add things into the settings to make it work on your computer? The only emulator I have is the Dox Box emulator and you have to type in all these file paths to get games to work on it and it took me a while to get the hang of it. While we are talking about fan created games there was a game I downloaded around a decade ago called 'Super Mario Bros X' and it is the best fan created Mario game I have played and it had heaps of levels and a level editor that was even better than 'Super Mario Maker' and had a lot of things from 'Super Mario Bros 2' which were missing in 'Super Mario Maker.' In the game you can play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad and Link (from 'The Legend of Zelda') and you could get packs for more levels.

I use the emulator Project 64, which is what I use to play orther Nintendo 64 roms; and works well. I had to look up and change some settings to get this one to load; and I'll have to double check what those settings are. I mainly use the analogue keyboard controls, which can be custom configured, though I'm curious if if a USB device with a joystick would work, which I think might; and would be less clumsy.
Personally, I wish the visual perspective was a little different, as it sits a little high when zoomed out, and has made me nauseous at times. I've had to look a few things up; and I kind of would have liked to have seen more elements from DK64. Like, Mario can't swing from vines, they're more like the floating poles; he can't climb trees, which kind of gets annoying. And it's heavily abridged, which makes some sense, but there are a lot of places he can't go, that you would in the regular DK game.
