YEE HAW! HIGH FIVE! Did all the ushers hang out by the back door and smoke cigarettes during the service and were there an inordinate amount of smokers in general? It was a mixed bag, I suppose.... I was smoking at the time. ... mostly cigarettes.

Any. Orthodoxy in general. Is there even anyone here who comes from the Eastern Orthodox tradition? I'm fascinated by that denomination.

Half the women did, too, but they didn't do it during the actual church service.

No, I'm pretty sure people would realize that you would be referring to Christianity, & not Judaism, or for that matter, Baha'i.

Pentecostalism mostly, though we went to a few churches that weren't denomination-specific.

I did not vote in the poll since it does not apply to me. I was raised Catholic and for a time pretty much stopped going to church and the like for about 12 years (roughly 2000 til late 2012) and then came back (ill be 39 years old later this year). but even when I was away from it I always believed in God. but even before those 12 years, while I went to Church, I rarely prayed which is not optional but required if one is going to grow closer to God. The Holy Rosary is the most powerful form of personal prayer and I pray that every day with rare misses that I don't make up for and have since Aug 21st-ish 2013. but I would say since I came back to the Catholic church in late 2012 I started praying more etc. I try to keep things at least up to 'practicing Catholic' level of standards instead of just claiming I am Catholic, with maybe a basic belief in God, but that's where it ends (which is where I was for a good portion of my life) which is simply not up to a minimum standard one needs to be. but anyways, hopefully some of you ex-Catholics come back but thank God I am back as it's simply not worth leaving the true Church of God that Jesus Christ started with Peter(the first pope) as He said... "I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it." - Matthew 16:18. (the list of Popes from Peter to date... www.newadvent.org/cathen/12272b.htm ; so it can all be traced back to the Source ) for the Catholic church holds all of the truth (on morals etc) of Jesus Christ since it's the church He guides. have a good day

Pentecostalism mostly, though we went to a few churches that weren't denomination-specific. YEAH! Let's all clap along to this song! Check it out: drums! Right there on Sunday morning! Wha...wait...what's that...?...why'd it get all quiet all of a sudden, like as if on cue...?....oh, some old guy is yelling, except...except that's not English...why, it's gibberish! Ha, the youth pastor plays electric guitar! Awesome! This train is bound for glory, this train. This train is bound for glory, this train. This train is bound for glory - dramatic pause - only those who've been redeemed can board it! This train is bound for glory, this train.] Yeah, I spent many, many hours in a Pentecostal church. Ha, one time at the Wednesday night youth group service, some new kid showed up and I struck up a conversation with him. Turns out he and both play guitar and we both like Soundgarden. I was like, "Hey man, they'll let you get up and play in the band tonight if you can play. All you have to do is ask." So, yeah, next thing you know, he's up there with the youth pastor and the rest of the kids in the band playing along to the song aforementioned and "Holy of Holies" and all the typical Pentecostal spirituals. And then all of a sudden, in between songs, he breaks into the riff from "Fell on Black Days" and looks over at me with a shit-eating grin. You'd think the youth pastor might have been upset. Nope. Instead he gives a "that ain't nothin'" smirk and breaks into the riff from Smoke on the Water. I miss/don't miss those crazy Pentecostals. Off topic, my wife said the line of games she plays is called Haiku Adventure Escape.

Protestant - United Methodist I think I've only been to one Methodist service, so I have no clue about that culture. Did your parents make you go and then you stopped as an adult or were you an adult when you changed your mind?

Yep, that sounds like a few of the Pentecostal churches we went to! My dad played drums for years in our first church. I probably would've liked it better if they ever broke into Soundgarden and Deep Purple, though! Still, one of my most memorable summers as a kid was spent at a kinda-church-camp (I say "kinda" because it was only Friday-Sunday) with my cousin and a few of our friends. Good times. Off topic, my wife said the line of games she plays is called Haiku Adventure Escape. Thanks!
