A I for one have always loved its levity, esp coming on the heals of OOTP's stuffiness. Finest HP cinematography this side of POA. Draco's side story might be the only 'flaw' in that it's quite paint by numbers... then again, Felton doing a lot of non verbal acting does help add gravitas. Lots of fun, eye candy, drama, the whole nine. While I thought there'd be a grander Dumbledore signoff, the more I re-watch it the more realistic it seems - deaths in real life are honoured not with bombast but with reflection & subtlety. My 3rd fav HP film.

My main problem is that Harry's whole story with Slughorn turns out to be pointless.

I remember really liking it when it came out. But now I think it's just okay.

This is my favorite one so far. I am watching this with my daughters right now in order and we just finished this one. It is easily the most well done movie so far. Also, Harry with Slughorn was nor pointless at all. It is setting up the next two movies when they search for the horcruxes are whatever they are called.

But he'd already learned about Horcruxes from Dumbledore. Slughorn told him nothing he didn't already know.

Yeah but they did not know that Voldemort put his soul into 7 different ones and scattered them throughout the world. This sets off the chain of events for the next movie where they look to destroy these to make Voldemort mortal again.
