The fuck, man? Let's leave it at my thoughtful two-paragraph fucking response, BJ. You'd rather we argue this back and forth, or leave it at us agreeing with one another on how TD and GOTG had their own ways of doing things that worked out best for the types of stories they told? I'd rather not have wasted my time actually attempting to really discuss anything, as your mental illness prevents that from happening after a point.

I'd rather not have wasted my time actually attempting to really discuss anything, But we did, we came to a proper dissection of the difference between the kind of stories that are better suited for television and how sometimes the superb acting can make the material look even better. Like the extra bit of chili powder in a great omelette.

We both agreed on things.

Let's be fair here, if True Detective had been a 2 hour film it wouldn't have been all that memorable. Being stretched out over 8 hours made the story work. Well, in the same way that being stretched over two hours made the Guardians vol 2 story work, and if that ran 22 or 45 minutes it wouldn't have had the same time to set up a lot of the better jokes (Taserface, it's not ripe, etc.) or the more interesting character work that occurred between basically the entire team. I agree. I agree, although I think Matthew's acting as Rust made Rust seem a much better character than he's otherwise be (he is fairly stock as detective archetypes go). I DO think TD was good. Hell, it even stayed mostly away from the T&A that is the true draw for a lot of HBO viewers (Daddario aside). That's more a reaction to how liking anything Disney makes usually gets derision. I'm giving them a taste of their own medicine.
