Maybe Finn is last man standing it would give some weight to the series Disney warrior princesses NEVER die. (Rey dying is never going to happen).

Precisely why I can't get excited for the next film. Why should there even be a next film? Story's over. The bad guys got cucked, the good guys are mostly dead or unlikable and stupidity won. Why watch stupidity gloat in the final film?

(Rey dying is never going to happen). why not, the actress seems hesitant to return, probably cause she can't handle aggressive fans and criticism, there will be many more Reys, so this one might not need to return

(Rey dying is never going to happen). why not, the actress seems hesitant to return, probably cause she can't handle aggressive fans and criticism, there will be many more Reys, so this one might not need to return Because the archetype Disney warrior princess doesn't die. If you don't believe me then go to Redbox and rent dozen Disney animated movies where the star and protagonist is a female. That's just not the formula for the warrior princess. She always "rides off into the sunset" being totally glorious, ultimately happy, and celebrated by everyone. They wouldn't dare risk shocking the female fans of this archetype who have grown up and been weaned on it. They wouldn't dare risk traumatizing all the little warrior princesses who already know what her destiny is, and should be (in their eyes). They wouldn't dare risk a formula that guarantees them three/quarters of a billion dollars a pop, just by putting a warrior princess in the film and playing out her archetypal journey. They couldn't give a flying leap about Ridley's feelings about playing the character. Or her issues with handling the attention or character criticism. There's numerous ways to end the character's story without killing her or having her die.

Ford's been reluctant to return for anything, Wars, Blade Runner and Indiana Jones included.

Ha, remember when Linda got down on all fours and barked like a dog? My favorite was the little black kid who had to dribble a basketball 15 times in a row. I miss good villains like ole' Ted.

Particularly the scene where Luke milks that creature...

it will end like this. a big major space/land(s) battle against the first order. who will fight in it? everyone! all races, different shapes and sizes, strong woman characters, men, children will find the courage that rey's words will give them in some major speech that they transmit across the galaxy after tampering with the first orders blockade, to rise up. only together can we defeat the first order! something close to that i bet.

Maybe Rian Johnson will come on as a "script consultant" for Episode 9 and retcon the Porgs so some of them can hold spears...

death of Rey would be a ray of hope for the franchise. They could do it like with the original "Mary Sue" in Trekkies Tale (1974):
She could sacrifice herself and get her very own universal Rey day, a public holiday for the galaxy. Everbody's happy provided she does not return via Force ghost-ing.

Holyshit is that real? Please tell me you made that up as a joke!

Holyshit is that real? Please tell me you made that up as a joke! Nope, not even exaggerated: it's the original prose. But the text is essentailly a parody of fanfic character writing that now call "Mary Sue", so it makes fun of the bad writing style and ridiculous glorification of these characters. "Beautiful youth and youthful beauty, intelligence, capability and all around niceness" is exactly the Mary Sue-type Rey is.
