which of the three biggest American masterpieces of 2007 do you favor most?
love all, but gotta go with Jesse James. It's the most powerful of the three and the scenery and score are simply breathtaking.
although i will admit that TWBB is probably the most accomplished of the lot.
what say u?

No Country by a big margin. Blood becomes a bit tedious on repeat viewings and Jesse James is insanely overrated. "Revisionist" Westerns pander so shamelessly to douchebag pseudo intellectuals they are rarely entertaining as a Western. Even the self aware titles tend to make me cringe.
Any episode of Deadwood is superior to the self indulgent The Assassination blah blah blah etc...

Best acting is Daniel Day Lewis in "There Will Be Blood" But my favorites are 1. The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford 2. No Country for Old Men 3. There Will Be Blood

I give them all an A-
I think No Country is the best crafted, followed by Jesse James' cinematography, then DDL's performance... 123 in that order. The first 2 would make my top 100.
NCFOM was actually the last movie to fall from my top 50 list.

Love all 3 of them (and I'd rank Zodiac up there too), but of the three I'd give the slight edge to There Will Be Blood.

No Country for Old Men (2007)
I mildly like that unlike the other two which get a Thumbs Down.

Of those three movies, by process of elimination THERE WILL BE BLOOD a 6/10 okay movie.
You sure picked some of the worst movies you could. These are not masterpieces by any definition, and only "Blood" has any chance of being a classic.
"Assassination of Jesse" is second at 3/10. It has the feel of reality, but often that means the characters are just dull, and Jesse is definitely dull and self righteous, impossible to empathize with, a sadist who pushes a young hero worshiper into being his assassin, apparently on purpose. It's just boring.
"No Country" is a 1/10 ridiculously Hollywood version of "Nightfall", and there's no doubt the author of "No Country" just wrote a spoiled brat version of the classic, something that took zero risks, and was pure Hollywood. It has no chance of being remembered once the crack heads who praise it fade away into their persistent brain damage.
Now, THERE WILL BE BLOOD has a bit of a twist, in that it is "experimental". Most people on IMDB miss the forest for the trees in what this is really about. It's quite evident to someone who doesn't look too close. The usual Hollywood hero family is never even seen. They're just spoken of. This is the backstage story behind what the heroic family sees that is usually not shown. It's very experimental.
