Are you sure? I've posted about twenty neutral items on the Star Wars general board. I've posted about a dozen negative thoughts on the Han Solo board. I've posted probably hundreds of positive thoughts on the The Force Awakens board. Almost no negative comments. I hate The Last Jedi with a passion, so yes, I've posted here hundreds of times and they have all been scathing remarks because the movie is a complete fuck up. Amateurs couldn't have done worse than these fuck ups managed. But you are right about one thing: a good word from me is high praise indeed. No fluff here. Like I said, too lazy to go about reading all your posts. I just was curious. I admit, I wasn't on the FORCE AWAKENS stuff as much as I've been on the LAST JEDI & SOLO stuff, so that's probably why I missed a lot of your happy posts. I've got a fanfic going, myself, that whenever I finish, will possibly end up being a re-write of the new trilogy, although the original motivation was a suggest (not made by me) of what would happen if a particular EU character had been raised beside Luke Skywalker, how that would have changed ANH/TESB/ROTJ, then I decided to also add TFA and I may be adding TLJ, if I'm not too STAR WARS fatigued when I'm done with the TFA chapters. It seems though, that a lot of people are doing "fix it" fanfiction or absolute re-writes. No worries on that account- one of my best friends in the world, is the same, possibly more severe actually. His saying, "The movie was decent" means everyone else will think it just shy of a masterpiece. He mourns the days of true critics who talked about style, pacing, acting, direction, score, costume design, motifs, thematic direction, and all sorts of more high-brow stuff about movie-making besides if the actors were hot, how many explosions there were, how many million it made opening weekend, etc. I have to agree with him, a lot of the time. I mean, I think he can be a little hard sometimes, but overall he's got a lot of good points. But there is definitely something to be said for expecting more of movies than explosions, hot babes, loud music, and how many sequels can be churned out of it. No worries. If you had been on the TFA board, you'd just feel worse about me. Tristan's not kidding. I was a total TFA slappy, 100% behind the Disney buyout and way more excited about Star Wars than I had been during the PT. When TLJ came out, I fell fast, completely and hard. I hit every step on the way down my tumble into the basement. It's actually quite depressing. I went from a place where I bought every new canon book, I started watching the cartoons, I surfed youtube and watched all those FUCKING STUPID WASTE OF TIME theory videos, etc. to a place where I went full Hindenburg. No matter what your fanfiction is, I wish it were new canon. It has to be better than tit-squeezing Luke and menopausal Rose.

No matter what your fanfiction is, I wish it were new canon. It has to be better than tit-squeezing Luke and menopausal Rose. See, I was the opposite. I only sort've liked TFA and found myself reminded why I'm a Trekkie-who-likes-Star-Wars, not a Die-Hard-Star-wars-fan-who-likes-Trek. LAST JEDI actually brought me around, making me like the new movies better than I had before. Granted, I'm one of the 3 people who liked the MARTHA thing from BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN, and I like the extended edition of said BvsS movie, so I'm pretty sure the minority of fandom is my mailing address. [Trust me, I could go on, full Hindenburg, as you say, if we start on the DC universe.] Well, the outline it simply; What if Galen "Starkiller" Marek had been handed off to Obi-wan, then raised beside Luke Skywalker. That was the prompt/outline. I decided that Galen's father handed him off one night to a Wookie, who knew Maz, who contacted Obi-wan (no matter what I think about some of the questionable choices in the new STAR WARS movies- I will forever love Maz, but that could be as much the actress playing her as the character), and Obi-wan took advantage of Luke's aunt wishing she could give Luke more of a family and he made sure to come by on an afternoon when Uncle Owen wasn't there to rain on the parade. That's my "Episode 3.5", then I wrote it to pick up the day R2 & 3PO arrive at the farm via that Jawas. They still meet Obi-wan, they still escape with Han Solo & Chewie, they still have to go rescue Leia, Obi-wan still dies, but after that it really starts to deviate from the path, because Luke's got a brother, who is also a powerful Jedi. I've published up to the escape with Han, but I've written up Luke's blowing up the deathstar with Han's help, and I've outlined the re-write of EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, RETURN OF THE JEDI, and THE FORCE AWAKENS. I've got a few ideas for how it would reshape THE LAST JEDI, but I haven't gotten there yet. I also made Rey be Han & Leia's second kid, gave Luke a wife in the FORCE AWAKENS era, and I tweaked Ben Solo because I can't stand the crybaby in the movies. PS: Why does everyone hate Rose? Don't get me wrong, she's not my favorite and she's a bit corny at times, but I just don't understand why she has been greeted with such overwhelming distaste/disgust/anger/etc. I get why Jar Jar was disliked and even why people have disliked what was done with Finn in TLJ (he was made such a comedy plug), just not why the reaction to Rose has been so strong.

I can't say that I'm aligned with the idea of rewriting TESB or ROTJ. In fact, I think everything EU and pre-Disney canon up until ROTJ was perfect as-is. The PT story is perfect as-is. The history of the Jedi and Sith is perfect as-is. Old Republic is perfect as-is. It's all the stuff written after ROTJ that I find lacking. This includes the pre-Disney EU. I thought TFA was an improvement on the initial post-ROTJ EU stories, but it relied on interesting and sensible conclusions to its build-up and TLJ destroyed all hope for that. But keep writing your fanfic, because that's all any of us have left, unfortunately. Everyone hates Rose because she's super annoying, she's a character that further served to cuck Finn, every decision she makes is a terrible one, yet the film attempts to elevate her as some kind of hero, her big line on Crait could headline any cringefest and the crying/laughing thing was melodrama at its worst.

If it is any consolation, technically the only big changes in Eps 4-6, is that Luke has a bit more help, the Emperor has a back-up plan he thinks Vader doesn't know about, Han gets a pal who isn't a Jedi, and Yoda & Force-Ghost Obi-wan have a slightly different conversation when Luke leaves to save Leia, Han, Chewie, & 3PO. I even kept most of the lines from the original trilogy, just figuring out how to insert Galen, as well as his love-interest, Juno Eclipse. However, ep7 bears little resemblance in my fanfic, to what we saw on the big screen. Mostly cause Snoke didn't have the wiggle room, Rey got raised by her family, and Luke didn't disappear. Well, I will go see the next movie and I am really looking forward to SOLO. I'm sorry Star Wars let you down, man. I made another board topic, just to get an idea of why people had such a reaction to her. I didn't have some great liking of her, and upon rewatching, I found that I just couldn't make myself like her and kept wishing we'd gotten more Maz (although, I could assume that part of that may have been Lupita N. being busy with BLACK PANTHER - which was awesome, by the way. Totally off-topic, but everyone needs to see that movie.), Poe, and R2D2. Have you seen the deleted scene of R2 and Finn? It's pretty good and a rotten shame they left it out of the movie. I haven't gotten through my Bonus Material DVD, but I've been told there's about 14 deleted scenes in there, and considering a lot of the movies I've seen lately have something like 24-32 scenes on the disc menu, I kept thinking that meant there is about half a movie's worth of scenes on the deleted scenes disc.
