A
Thought I'd made/found a thread for each my top 50... re-watched again earlier this week. Exceptional production, a bit personal 90's nostalgia bias... John Singleton was only 23yrs old when he wrote & directed, crazy. Ice Cube on point, Fishburne excellent... Gooding Jr., Chestnut, & Long all solid perfs.
I always wonder if Singleton was giving nod to Stand By Me... 4 kids walking rails to see a dead body, older teen takes kid's favourite thing... Ice Cube faded out of picture like River Phoenix while sub-titles telling us he died 2 weeks later.
While sometimes I think it's gonna be too heavy a viewing, there's enough entertaining value to have a bit of fun with it too.
