My cat likes to play hide and go seek. She sneaks up on me, taps my leg and runs away (well moves as fast is she is able to now) and hides. I then wait a minute or so then go find her (which is pretty easy since she meows once she gets in her hiding spot).

The only pets I've had which would play games were my boy, my dog Joe, who would fetch sticks despite that he had a deformed eye, and my cat Match who would fetch rubber bands.

Xander likes to do tricks.
And they both like to play with toys, especially string and beads.

My cat tries to see how much she can bite me before I can run away. She will hide behind things and reach out to grab me when I walk by. She is usually nonviolent with the second game.

Cassie used to play a similar game with Gusty. She would go into the bathroom and lie in wait until Gusty would wander by, then she'd leap out and pounce. Really wasn't at all fair since she was a black cat sitting perfectly still in a darkened room.

I wish that I had another cat for her to have a companion but she doesn't like the neighborhood cats at all so she wouldn't take to another one in her territory.

My dog likes to play "tug of war".. and sometimes I'll stomp at him and he'll jump around and bark playfully. He's pretty weird. lol.

Recently my cat has developed a new game--he waits until I've stepped out of the room for a minute or two, then leaves a "surprise" somewhere in the room and waits to see how long it takes me to discover it. Hilarity ensues (for him, anyway).

operation sans stuffing. he can't have any soft toys -- especially with a squeakie thing in it. he will destroy the toy in 3 minutes flat.
we can't do much running with him since he lives with my parents who live in a gated community that backs onto a golf course... but he isn't a runner anyway. he is a golden retriever but he doesn't retrieve and deliver like normal. he will go and get the ball or stick and then sit down and gnaw on it.
he loves crawling up next to you, stealth style, when you are on the floor. he is humungous and he thinks he is like 4 lbs! when he is with me in my apartment I allow him to sit/lie with me on the couch and he takes up most of it. he loves lying ontop of you and just cuddling.

Does "trying to sleep in boxes that are too small for them" count as a game?

The dogs play games with each other. I have a male yorki who is diabetic and over weight and a female beagle pup. The yorkie will plop his fat belly down on the beagle's favorite toy. I swear he does it on purpose. The beagle tries and tries to pull and yank that toy out from under the yorkie, but to no avail. Drives her absolutely nuts.

Only my dog plays games...he likes to play tug of war, and he likes a version of fetch...where I run after him and try to get the ball away, but I'm trying to train him out of that. Limited success, as I feel like he knows what I want but is still refusing to do it-unless I'm distracted, then suddenly he does it perfect every time. Dogs are exhausting.

He barks like a dog and rolls over. He does this hide and seek thing with me. I'll look at him then hide and go..."Where's Chicolini?" I'll peep back out so he can see me and go..."Here he is." I'll hide again and he'll go..."Where's mama?" Then I'll peek out and he'll say..."Here she is." He used to say he for both of us but I corrected him. He also likes to attack. Oh and at night he will go up to his top perch to go to bed when I ask him if he's going back to bed or tell him that I'm going to bed as he sees me going out of the room or about to turn the light off.

My cat loves wand toys for interactive play, and he's got one of those Kong stuffed animals that he loves. Sometimes I "marinate" it in a container of catnip and he goes crazy for it.
He also likes those plastic rings from soda and milk bottles, which he bats around with his paws like hockey pucks, and the cardboard from toilet paper rolls.
For his first birthday I bought him one of those track toys that has a ball he can swat around the track. It was great for late nights because he'd go play with the toy instead of waking me up.
IMO the best toys are wand toys like Da Bird, because not only do cats love them, but interactive play builds your bond with your pet.

My youngest cat loves to play with anything and everything. She loves the laser light especially and a little pink mouse with a rattle in it.
The oldest cat loves these 3 toys that have catnip in it. She also loves strings.
My recently rescued cat loves to play with my shoelaces.
My dog loves any and all stuffed toys but is especially fond of this stuffed toy that looks like a puffin. She once found this stuffed toy that looks like Shrek on our walk once and brought it home with her. Once she was playing with her toy and didn't want to even drop it to go for a walk. She walked with it in her mouth the entire time.
