We all know it's coming. Unless Indy 5 makes $4 total, this is coming. Surely by then, in what could be the year 2023 or later, Spielberg will have moved on. Ford will most likely be done as well. Who could take up this franchise?
Disney will probably choose JJ Abrams, but who would you choose? The more I think about it, the harder it becomes to think of a successor. Sure, Spielberg is kinda washed up now, but he was a master back in the '80s. I can't think of a single action director that could do what Spielberg did. It's a tough call.

I'd say just stop the franchise, but fat chance that will happen.

A robot should direct it.

I liked how Nolan handled the action in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, and the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises. But he's not the right fit for something pulpy like Indiana Jones though. Abrams is my prediction too. Though someone like Christopher McQuarrie or Doug Liman would be great. Or if they just wanna make it a fun popcorn flick, someone like Justin Lin or Jon Favreau.

Fooking hell! What about George Miller?

He isn't good at the martial arts action stuff, but he's great at the brawler fist-fights (as Indy is known for) and vehicle action (like a car chase or airplane chase). I think that the only way he'd do it is if he just kind of wants to take some time off and make a fun movie, and if the script was already done for him. If he wanted to do it, though, I'd let him. Miller is in the same boat as Spielberg to me. He's pretty old. I think that his age might just be the only reason why we don't have a fifth Mad Max yet.

I think Nolan is the type of person that needs constant challenges to be occupied. I just remembered that Matthew Vaughn wanted to direct an Indiana Jones movie. I say go for it.

Hell yeah! He deserves vindication after being blamed for the failure of Green Lantern.
