I've never eaten spam in my life.
What are your thoughts on Spam? (as in the food).

SPAM is an acronym for SPiced hAM...
I was in the military service during the Vietnam war and SPAM was a staple of the troopers diet. Another favorite was creamed chipped beef on a biscuit which troops called "sh!t on a shingle"...troops dined on such exotic cuisines as powdered eggs and powdered milk...and K and C rations...field meals that came in a can and despite the label, you had no idea what you were eating...those were the days...!!!

My dad ate the same stuff in WWII, and it was named that then. He hated eggs because of the powdered eggs he had there. I've always hated eggs and my family thinks it was due to my dad. My son grew up hating eggs and recently decided he liked them.

I entered a contest many years ago, where spam had to be included. I won with lasagna. No one could tell it was spam. But then again, I'm not sure how many had eaten spam before.

SPAM is an acronym for SPiced hAM... By many reports it means spiced ham. But on a TV documentary I saw some years ago (all about spam) the explanation was that it originally meant "shoulder pork and ham". It also said that spam is enormously popular in Hawaii where you can get it in most restaurants. It took me most of my life to like spam but I can eat it fried with duck sauce. I have also heard recommendations for spam pizza which I hope to try sooner or later.

I've never eaten spam in my life. What are your thoughts on Spam? (as in the food). As a kid, I liked Spam sandwiches - on white "Wonder Bread," with bright yellow mustard. A few years ago, I decided to stroll down Memory Lane, (sourdough bread). I couldn't believe how salty it was. But, it bordered on "pretty good." I know that there's a reduced sodium variety, but I haven't gotten around to trying it. Of course, for several decades, just the word "Spam," brings automatic thoughts of wonderful "Monty Python."

SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota"Yes, it’s real. The SPAM® Museum is stuffed with interactive exhibits that bring the iconic history of the SPAM® Brand to life like you’ve never seen it before! Go behind the scenes and behind the can for an experience adults and kids will savor." and it's FREE!
The whole town smells like SPAM (not that that's a bad thing! )

I had it often when growing up but it was not a daily thing. I remembered the taste and recently they started again with the commercials and I took an interest. the day where the nor-easter actually hit nyc and dumblazzio actually closed schools is when I had it for breakfast. it was just as amazing as I remembered.
they do make 'newer' flavors and styles now... low sodium and crap. abominations.

SPAM can; A small walkie talkie used by troops in WWII and derived its name of a common canned lunch meat, which in turn got its name from a blend of "spiced" and "ham."

have to wonder if that one is a big seller. I actually like the low sodium better than classic. I hate bacon flavored Spam. I like garlic flavored, but I think that was a limited edition. The only store I ever found it at was Groceryland, but I haven't seen it in years. Spambled eggs are delicious. If I slice it up to eat with fried eggs I like it lightly fried, not crispy at all.
