Well, Johann Sebastian had a lot of kids to begin with. About 12 I think? His wife was a also a musician. All that talent had to rub off on some of them.

Here's a link I found about Bach's children, had never heard of this site before: www.classicfm.com/composers/bach/guides/children/They count 20 of which only 10 lived to adulthood, which is probably not unusual for those times. Bach's first wife died and child number 8 begins a new family with his second wife. I always wonder the opposite of the OP, why didn't more descendants of the great composers become well-known musicians or composers? It looks like the talent and desire to make music at a very high level is that not strongly inherited.
