I always use either Prego or Ragu. I never add anything to the sauce.

I rarely modify jarred spaghetti sauce...
But I do frequently buy products, to use as a base... and then I add additional spices, ingredients, & toppings to make it better...
I did that this evening with a frozen cheese pizza. I cooked it for about half the time. I then added some extra sauce, a couple of my favorite toppings, added some extra cheese, and cooked it for about another 8 minutes. Delicious!

That's not spaghetti sauce you made.
I make my own. I cannot abide that jar stuff. The only sauce I will purchase is from the Italian specialty store. They make their own pastas, breads, and sauces. Their sauce tastes a bit like mine.

I agree homemade sauce is the best. But if you don't have the time and want spaghetti jar sauce can be very good if you doctor it up.

Right now, I have three quarts in the freezer. When I'm down to one, I make another batch with meatballs, sausage and bracciole. I've been making sauce since I was ten years old. It's not a big deal for me.

Rita's Spagetti Sauce

1 24 oz jar ragu sauce add oregano...1/2 tsp (or to taste) 4 or 5 bay leaves Simmer for a few minutes, or 1/2 an hour if desired

Some of them aren't too bad.
If I am feeling lazy I would prefer to get a tin of tuna, preferably one with olive oil and chilli and just toss that through the pasta.

If I'm using bottled, I usually mix these:

That's exactly what I was thinking. No offense to the OP but what the hell?!!! My friends are often in awe because I make my own spaghetti sauce. It's not like making sauce is hard and it's sooooo much better than the jars. The mistake many people do making their own is they make it too busy by adding a bunch of stuff like mushrooms, bell peppers, 3 kinds of meat etc... Keep it simple and it's hard to go too wrong.
I have had some decent jar sauces at other peoples homes but none compare to homemade. People also act surprised because I make my own chili, stews stroganoff etc... too.

I think you both are missing the point of the OP, which is that they managed to make shitty store bought sauce have a decent taste. It wasn't a recipe suggestion for making genuine spaghetti sauce....

It wasn't a recipe suggestion for making genuine spaghetti sauce.... I get the point. But the fact of the matter is, no matter what you do to jar sauce, it still tastes like jar sauce. I do have to apologize, as I am spoiled. I realize people do not have the time or wherewithall to cook. I've been cooking since I was 10, and I'm in my 60's now. Sauce is one the of the easiest things in my repertoire to make.

After watching Goodfellas, I decided to make spaghetti sauce from scratch. I stirred it for hours. It turned out tasting like the kind in a jar.

Going to try it that way. Here is the very best jar of spaghetti sauce I have ever had. It is made by a company called Carfagna's. They make several kind like below.

The only time I eat something premade, is when I go hiking or something like that, then I buy processed cheese spread that comes in a tube, and use it on pasta and add some chopped "beer sausages" (they can be stored in room temperature). Simple and high in energy.
