Hemsworth is very underrated as an actor. I think it shows further the problems of mcu movies. they never gave him a good script to work with. Sure they did, just not anything "grounded" or pretentious. McAvoy wouldn't be well regarded as an actor based on his Xavier, really. It's all his non-X-Men stuff that got him that reputation. Last King of Scotland comes to mind.

I would say X-Men has the best actual acting talent, but Avengers still has the better cast. I feel that the Avengers actors are perfect in their roles. Sure, McAvoy is a better actor than Hemsworth, for instance, but Hemsworth is perfect for the character Thor. That's my take. Marvel has been better at casting. Halle Berry has an Oscar...but was she really good as Storm? Hemsworth will probably never have that trophy, but his Thor blows Berry's Storm out of the water. (there has to be a joke about thunder and lightning in there somewhere)

The X-men cast has great acting talent but they were all wasted in their roles (for the most part anyway). The Avengers maximized their talent more and so they get the win.
On a random note, the DCEU gets a special award for having the tallest average cast members.

I thought he was fantastic in the role but never had anything to work with. No one really thinks he's an awesome actor, but there was some real potential there. ...And I don't even like Batman that much.

I think Affleck could be the best Batman/Bruce Wayne we've ever had... if only the writing and directing would allow him to be such. I also think Cavill could be a good Superman... if only Snyder actually allowed him to be Superman instead of a Bruce Wayne/Edward Cullen amalgam.

He's just so archetypal it's hard to do a story about AND care about him at the same time. I mean, only the first Donner film really pulled that off...and even then the film devolves into full-on camp as soon as Lex Luthor shows up.
