Both are classics, but I always had a soft spot for The Player. Great film.

Two of my favorites, but Sunset has a simple but monumental grandeur that puts it in the top 10 US movies of all time. The film within a film at the end of Player is satirical and funny, but so over the top it vulgarizes the movie somewhat.
I also found the Greta Sacchi sequences odd. Are they a deliberate dig at European "existentialist" films? I thought they marred the pace of the movie. But apart from those two small reservations a masterly and thoroughly entertaining film.
