Just read the June 1915 edition of Canadian magazine Kodakery. It was a photography magazine published by Kodak. Some fun vintage photos are featured.

Just finished 'Crime and Punishment'.
Wow.. Glad I read some Solzhenitsyn first, primed me for the Russian setting.
Some novels are considered classics for good reason I guess..
Now it's back to 'Hero With a Thousand Faces' -- which is in it's own category of awesome.

Just finished The 23 by Linwood Barclay. The whole trilogy was better than I expected. Not much of a mystery fan. Not sure what to read next.

The Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr. It's set a year after the events in The Alienist but it's taking a leisurely pace and it has none of the gore of the first book.

Read the alienist many years ago. Probably worth a re-read with Angel of Darkness coming right after. Now reading a frippy, trippy romance and a professional book on adolescent literacy.

Just finished the March 1906 edition of magazine Talking Machine World. This was a U.S. magazine published for those involved in the business side of the record industry, particularly aimed at retailers of records and record players. Along with articles, there's also many ads trying to convince retailers why they should sell a particular record player or a particular range of records at their store.
A lot of fun to read.

Really? I bought that one a while ago but I am honestly not sure I will ever get around to actually reading it.

"The Red Pole of Macau" by Ian Hamilton, part of his Ava Lee series. I bought it years ago on a whim, without knowing absolutely anything about the author or the character. The description sounded interesting, some kind of international thriller. I never touched the book until a week ago when I was literally about to leave home on a trip and remembered that I didn't have anything to read. I quickly decided on this one, since it was not very big and was probably going to be light reading, appropriate for airplanes and airports.
I have been reading it before going to sleep every night and I am enjoying it so much that some days I end up staying up past 1 AM. I will probably look for the other books in the series now.
