Yeah, pretty much. Like I said in another thread, the reason they chose Momoa for the role was exactly because he was a perfect choice for Namor and it worked as a preemptive strike while Marvel is still sorting out the legal issues. That said, even with Aquaman being Namorized (yes, I just made that word up), Marvel can still use him in a way that is different and unique because he's a much more interesting character, all they have to do is empathize his differences more: Aquaman is a superhero that is mostly good, Namor is quite often a raging asshole that attacks nations often for petty reasons and is willing to cross the villain line. You can't imagine Aquaman committing genocide, for example, yet Namor did that. I'm pretty sure Jason Momoa was cast because they wanted someone who looked intimidating and badass. Momoa doesn't even look that much like Namor. namor looks more Asian than anything else.

Yes, he does look Namorish. maybe we're seeing two different people. momoa looks like neither namor nor Aquaman, namor looks to be more white/Asian, Aquaman is 100% white, Jason momoa looks more Polynesian/native American.

You're underestimating the sheer amount of pettiness that's gone into the creation of the DCEU. It was no accident that Aquaman ended up looking pretty much the way Namor is supposed to. That was an intentional decision to screw Marvel. You'll never convince me otherwise. Of course Marvel's creative enough to jump over this curb in the road. Warner/DC's not clever enough to stop them. Its like you dont understand how competitive business works.

Really? You really don't see the Namor-ish resemblance? cdn.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/bullet-to-the-head-jason-momoa-600x421.jpg68.media.tumblr.com/01b2225a7ad4304b34d27e61525970ec/tumblr_inline_nvtt7nplMf1t2ribq_1280.jpgThe later depictions of Namor have been drawn with a more red-bronze tan skin so I wouldn't think he was Caucasian. And just because his eyes are slanted doesn't mean he needs to be Asian. And it's not just plain physical resemblance either. Namor has always had a somewhat predatory look, even when he's playing a hero. Momoa has the kind of "fierceness" to his look that comes close to that, and it's definitely a more Namor-like quality than it is Aquaman.

One man is going to try to sell a coat in his store window, and another man is going to try to sell a coat in his store window. It's simple, and it's fair. What's not fair is making their Aquaman look like Namor just to screw Marvel. Also, your "don't" needs an apostrophe.

Namor isn't even a big commodity for Marvel, and they didn't even own the film rights to him when Jason Momoa was cast as Aquaman.
You want to talk about pettiness though? Marvel's desperate attempts to push the Inhumans, and their efforts to alienate the X-Men from the rest of the Marvel universe is frankly more petty than casting a dark skinned guy to play Aquaman.

The only pettiness going on concerning anything related to Marvel is on Fox's end. Remember how they made a terrible Fantastic Four movie just so they could keep the rights, just so Marvel couldn't use them in the MCU? That's pettiness. Pushing the Inhumans isn't petty, and "alienating" the X-Men is a business move, because they've become a less and less profitable venture for them.

I never said anything about that lousy movie. Fant4stic frankly had no reason to be made. That doesn't change the fact that Marvel has effectively been doing everything in their power to screw over the X-Men. They've even retconned Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch into no longer being Magneto's biological children, and no longer being Mutants.
If casting Jason Momoa as Aquaman strikes you as a petty attempt to one-up an obscure Marvel character who the studio didn't even own at the time, then what Marvel has been doing in relation to the X-Men is worse, and the fact that they're trying to push the Inhumans is a painfully obvious attempt to try and compensate for not being allowed to use the X-Men.

Actually, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch weren't originally mutants. They were made into mutants sometime after their introduction. Well, excuse Marvel for pushing an asset they're actually being allowed to use. If they're denied the X-Men, then they HAVE to use The Inhumans. Besides which, as stated, the X-Men aren't exactly selling huge these days, anyway.

Competitive business is not fair. Just ask the soft drink or fast food industry. Yes, it is, and I just told you why. There is literally no reason to ever use under-handed tactics if your product is any good. One business has an idea that may or may not be patented. Markets the product and sells it. Another business that deals with similar products uses that idea, maybe licences the patent, and innovates the product further. The second business has more success and ultimately becomes the leading source of said innovation. Not exactly fair since they didnt create the original idea but innovated around it. Thats one way competive business works. And that happens a lot in the comic book/film industries as well as other industries.

Who says they HAVE to use the Inhumans? They have tons of other characters at their disposal, and they've been doing great with what they have. They're only pushing the Inhumans because they're effectively trying to use them as a substitute for the X-Men. Going by your logic, that's rather petty.
Also, the only reason Marvel hasn't cancelled the X-Men comics like they have with the Fantastic Four is because the X-Men comics are still selling okay. They're not doing gangbusters, but comics in general don't do gangbusters these days.

Ive worked for multiple small and big companies in the logistics industry in my country and seen the bigger compnaies use the innovation of smaller companies with more succes, eventually buying out the smaller company. But here is example, timely comics creates namor. DC creates Aquaman. DC creates the Atom. Marvel creates Ant-Man. At this stage Marvel has had more succes with Ant-Man. DC/WB have potential to have success with Aquaman. If they do, whats important to either company, originally creating the idea or success with the product?

Success of the product, and there is no reason for them not to use the typical blonde Aquaman look unless they were fishing to try to nudge out Namor. By this point, DC knows about Marvel's success with more obscure characters when putting them on the big screen, and this was a move to make things harder for them to use Namor now that they have him back. They were watching Marvel reattain rights and acted accordingly.

No. Then how do you know they don't need the Inhumans? The X-Men aren't doing gangbusters even among other other titles that aren't doing gangbusters.
