Starfire and Blackfire are sisters, so it would only make sense to cast somebody who has the same racial heritage as Starfire's actress Anna Diop. I suppose if they made them half sisters I guess but that would change their dynamic. They are orange though.Anna is gonna be painted or cgi orange. Kat can be orange too. How can they paint her orange when they are filming her like that? She's already wearing her clothes. And about CGIing her. Nope. Do you know how much it would cost for them to CGI her in every shot? It cost them millions to just change Superman's mouth in some shots. This is going on WBs streaming service. They will not pay that kind of money to CG her skin for what... 10 episodes.

Yeah, Starfire looks like a fricking cosplay. She doesn't even look like that...sh looks like some kind of 70s Hooker wannabe. I'm thinking this is what they are going for. Why does her hair look like it's a wig? Not in a "her hair looks like a wig because it's bts" way, but like they intentionally made her look like she is wearing a wig. Like it is a character that Starfire is playing. And if that is suppose to be Koriand'r's hair, why make it look like it's a black woman's hair when she is an alien? She usually wears her hair straight. It's like they purposely said, "We gotta make her look more black."

What about Beast Boy? Hes green,I m sure he ll look it

And look at what color they made Beast Boy's hair. That's as far as they will go. If they wanted them the colors they are in the comics they could have used face paint and gloves like was done with Mystique. With character powers to CG, they won't have them continuously CG characters' skin colors when there is a very cheap way to do it. Look at Raven and how they made her pale with make-up. I think they are making it so the characters can walk around and not get stares. Like at school and such.

ThatGuy is right if they're not wearing any face paint then it's not very likely WB will be spending a ridiculous sum to CG their skin tone for lord knows how many minutes per each of the ten episodes of the first season.

If they even do that. I think the most we'll get is the glowing green eyes during action scenes and maybe when she is trying to scare someone. Like "Do it or I'll use my powers on you!" then her eyes glow.

Wow. That is just bad. Especially Starfire... she looks like a cross between a hooker and disco queen. Even Inhumans looked better than this.

Yeah, I think the whole "Starfire's costume is too slutty to use in movies" excuse is pretty lame. As those cosplays have proven, it's possible to make Starfire's costume decent enough for a PG13 movie while still looking sexy and maintaining its general design. Heck, Harley's movie costume shows more skin than those cosplay costumes, and I'm sure a good professional costume designer working in a multi-million dollar movie should be able to come up with a more decent costume than what cosplays can do. By the way, this criticism is also directed at Scarlet Witch... but at least Wanda didn't look like a cheap hooker.

linkWell, uh, Raven looks okay I guess, she and Beast Boy are at least sporting apparel that resembles their comic attire a little, I really really hope this is not their final look though, especially in Beast Boy's case. Starfire...What the hell? And I want to make something clear too... its NOT that the actress is black. Some people WILL have a problem with that. I'm not one of them.
When I first found out this actress was cast I assumed that she was going to have some make up on like Zoe Saldana does to make her green like Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, but instead of green in this case she would be orange.
And the costume doesn't have to be exactly like from the comics. We can all agree that the comic costume is a bit too much. But it still could have the alien skin tones and the overall design of the costume, even the hair, and still be much closer to what we know and love about this character. This is NOTHING like it. NOTHING.
It makes me think that the creators of the show don't give a fuck what we, the fans, think. And as such, that makes me lose interest. I mean, did they look at the comic?!
And anyway, what's wrong with this costume? surethingtoys.com/product/dc-comics-designer-series-starfire-by-amanda-conner-statue/

While I have nothing against black actors being cast in traditionally white roles, I AM starting to get irritated with Hollywood's version of "diversity" where apparently the only racial colors they know are white and black. If they had wanted to be more diverse, would it have killed them to cast an Asian or Latina for the role? Maybe even someone from India or the middle-east?

I was just telling a coworker today that a Latin actress would have been perfect for Starfire. Especially one that is tanned with a bronze-like skin tone (Brazilian mostly). And, yes, Indian or Middle Eastern would also work.

Plus if they got an actress from a demographic that's seldom represented in Hollywood (some middle-easterners and southeast asians also have bronze skin), it would add to the exotic nature of Starfire.

Aside from her shorts possibly being... well... too short, nothing.

And if that’s how they’re going to look in the final product, I might actually owe Josh Trank an apology.

Oh, and I realized that they just made the whole show unintentionally racist. Seriously, a black actress playing a character who looks like a fricking prostitute?!
