I feel like I’m just making threads for TV shows that I like, for which I apologize, but I wanted somewhere to discuss this and couldn’t quite find anywhere else that would fit. I hadn’t seen The Agatha Christie Hour before tonight, but I just watched and enjoyed “The Manhood of Edward Robinson” [whose lead is not to be confused with his Romanian-American cousin Emanuel Goldenberg]. Despite Christie’s name in the title, the episode isn’t a mystery at all; instead, it’s a charming and well-acted little romance/adventure—rather O. Henry-esque, in fact. It’s nothing spectacular, but I thought it was a great deal of fun and recommend it unreservedly. My only caveat would be that I think Edward (Nicholas Farrell) should have stayed with Lady Noreen (played by the beautiful Cherie Lunghi, shown in the photo). I understand the point—Edward gains his manliness and can stand up to his fiancée, which makes her appreciate him more—but her last-minute change of character is a bit too much to take, methinks. Whereas Lunghi was an absolute delight.
