What about that guy she whacked with the tree branch when she was cave-girl Buffy? Parker? Lol. He was 99% eyebrows.

Spike. They could have completely skipped that rapey episode because I don’t think he would ever have done that to her. She held on to her schoolgirl Angel love for WAY too long.

I always disagree with that. People forget Spike was still a soulless monster at this point. They forget he still made a deal with a demon to take in those monster eggs from "As You Were." In love or not, Spike took what he wanted. He always acted on impulse. Heck, precedence for his actions was set in Lover's Walk: I want Dru back, I've just gotta be the man I was, the man she loved. I'm gonna do what I shoulda done in the first place: I'll find her, wherever she is, tie her up, torture her until she likes me again.Essentially what he tried to do to Buffy: maker her love him again. I'm just surprised he took so long to do that.

I'm not up to that season yet so maybe my opinion will change after I watch it but as heinous as he could be I don't think he would have really hurt her like that.

I believe he absolutely would. From his own words that he tells Buffy: Do you know how much blood you can drink from a girl before she'll die? I do. You see, the trick is to drink just enough to know how to damage them just enough so that they'll still cry when you— 'cause it's not worth it if they don't cry... You wanna know what I've done to girls Dawn's age?
Spike was a monster. Rape is not above him. Heck, he smiled when he thought Angelus was raping a corpse in "Destiny."

How dare you exclude Faith from this poll... Could never get behind Spike and Buffy, it just never worked for me. I liked the direction it ultimately compelled Spike with n, but they screwed the pooch on that in several ways. I liked the aspects where he felt real emotion over Buffy's death, that he was willing to endure extreme torture to protect Buffy and Dawn. That he felt obligated to continue protecting Dawn even after Buffy's death, out of a sense of guilt for not being able to do so when it would have counted most. Him bringing flowers anonymously to the house after Joyce died was great. The "relationship" such as it was, was toxic; and in my opinion more than a little contrived. His assaulting her seemed forced and was arguably a creative mistake; just a means to make him get a soul. And yet they felt he could still have the self-awareness, even without a soul, to conceptualize what he had done was wrong and a need to atone and earn a soul - which held great potential to explore concepts of morality and psychology and what makes us human, only to squander that by saying, essentially that none of that mattered without a soul. Angel on the other hand... In hindsight, it's weird that this fully grown and ancient man is involved with a literal child. I think this makes Buffy's cookie dough analogy even more apt, and I would have liked to have seen what the two would have been like once she had martured more and had a better concept of herself; even if it were some later point in the series in contrast to where she was when it all started. Likewise, Angel seriously came more into his own in his series and went on a journey of personal development too. I found him far more compelling in Angel, but not strictly because he wasn't with Buffy, but because the story could be focused more on him. In spite of the age thing, I still like what they had for what it was in the early days of the overall narrative; and think it would only be better later on as both characters matured.

Neither, but between the two, I say Spike.

Laurel should have ended up with Oliver... Ooops, wrong show!
I always figured after the Shanshu kicked in Angel and Buffy would finally get together, but I gotta say Angel getting together with ensouled Darla allways intrigued me
