NJtoTX THANKS. I bought these reaper peppers from a local market in 2016. The heat was great but the flavor of the pepper was just absolutely disgusting My experience was just the same. Carolina Reaper sucks. My personal experience is that habanero tastes quite well (imparts good flavour) and also does the job of making it hot when you need it.

Jalapeno is the best pepper for flavor but the worst for heat I like ghost pepper the most

I remember having a Nepalese dish with ghost pepper which tasted pretty good. But in my area it's not as readily available as habanero or reaper.

I'll be honest, I've never had an actual fresh ghost pepper Just puree, hot sauces, dried, etc

My personal opinion that why the taste of reaper sucks is that it is not naturally occurring pepper but was made by artificial mating. Jalepeno/ghost pepper/habanero etc. have good flavours probably because they occurred in nature.

I expected a Scoville scale.
