"Woke reimagining of Candyman" is like saying Man of Steel is a comic book movie reimagining of Superman. Left wing politics weren't invented in 2016 by Paul Fieg and unearthed only by brave Scottish drunks on YouTube. And the movie was pretty good. I like the story, the body horror element it added, and how it tied into the 1992 movie. It also has nice cinematography and a foreboding atmosphere. I was disappointed by the lack of Tony Todd, but if I didn't know he was in it it probably would have been a neat cameo on its own. Havenβt bothered with the new Candyman but execution is the key. I have no doubt the 2021 probably veers into βall whites are bad/black people victims β which is the modern day approach . It is? Seems like no one can define what the word even means at this point. Black Panther had a black villain and Martin Freeman was a good guy, pretty sure the right weren't rushing to claim that.

Apparently the Terns of Endearment sequel, which is a thing no one talks about it remembers. Likewise the sequel to The Last Detail

Well, I'm not too surprised. QT drops projects like something something analogy. But also he's placing a lot of undo stress and expectations himself with this whole "10 and done" thing. Just make the movie you want to make and come back with an eleventh when you feel like it.

There's a Chinese place by my house that honestly isn't that great, but they still have entrees that are $11-12 (where most restaurants here have inflated to $15-18) and big portions.
I got Mongolian Beef and Mapu Tofu, which also kept me full by dinner. I was depressed as hell so I needed to gorge.

They've had a free sandwich with any purchase this month. I've been getting the half pounders without bun, so basically just a container of meat. I don't know what they do to their roast beef to give it that distinct flavor but it's been hitting the spot.

I haven't seen it since the mid 2000s but I remember the VFX looking decent at the time. The plane crash scene was pretty intense. Also, come in with the milk. They probably looked pretty good for the time. They donβt even look that awful now, but Nolan, or even Mann if he directed instead of just producing, wouldβve went in the air and filmed for real. The crash scene is excellent once it gets to the point where they went practical. Iβm surprised that didnβt earn it an R rating. Three pilots died making the actual Hell's Angels so I don't really hold it against Marty for going digital. Though of course, if Nolan had the skill and clout he has now in 2004 to do those scenes for real they would be something else. One point in favor of Marty is that Nolan and Mann are much more clinical filmmakers. Marty is more of a humanist so this movie is a lot more emotionally engaging to me than, say, Oppenheimer or Ali were.

Leo thinks he is doing something profound by acting in only Oscar bait movies. I respect actors like Al Pacino or Dr Niro who seem to realize acting is just something fun they get to that they are lucky to make million off of The irony is that I think Leo is secretly one of the best comedic actors working today between Wolf and Hollywood, but he'd rather play to the "did you know Leo ate raw bison and really cut his hand in that scene?" crowd.

Not that I'm excited for yet another music biopic one way or another, but holy hell, Leo as Sinatra would be some of the worst casting ever. I know the guy helped him retain big studio backing for the past few decades, but surely there's another box office draw willing to work with Martin fucking Scorsese. And I'm sure plenty of them know how to scream and scrunch up their face and do questionable accents just as well as Leo.

I remember it was kind of a big deal that Smith let him keep first billing in Bad Boys II despite being a way bigger star by then. Back when Will seemed like the coolest dude ever.

That fleeting moment where Martin sees freedom as an old man having lost so many years in prison made me cry as a kid. The only thing I really remember about the movie.
Since it's his birthday, let me shout-out his cameo in Beach Bum, which is fucking hilarious.

I was going to redundantly ask if the topic of Kevin Hart being a man of below average height came up, but then you mentioned Stephen Curry and I already have the entire commercial visualized in my head without seeing it.

I'm working my way through his filmography. I'm down to The Grandmaster and Ashes of Time. I like the first story, but I'm probably with the majority in preferring the second. Talk about a manic pixie dream girl. Pretty much a picture perfect example of the template.
I'm not sure I have a preference, but the first story gave me intense cliffhanger feelings that still linger. That's probably weird.
I'm sure the peach guy eventually found love. This is one of my favorite movie shots:
