Cover Up (1949) dir: Alfred E. Green From the date, the terse title, and the fact that the leads are Dennis O'Keefe and William Bendix, you might think IMDb are correct in billing this as a Noir, but it is not. It is a murder mystery with "Wonderful Life" sentiments and an unconventional ending. It is not a great movie. The whole plot is based on a false premise, but I was too slow-witted to realize that until the end, so it did not spoil my enjoyment. The reason I mention it here is that several characters explain the action by pointing out that it is a small town. Indeed you could say that the town is a main "actor" in the plot.

One more: Spirit of the Beehive (1973) Loved this one, amyghost . Would love to see it again. It is indeed a beautiful film. And it starred a very young Ana Torrent, who as a grown young woman, would play a pivotal role in a favorite Italian television series, La Piovra (as the schizophrenic Maria Cariddi). She matured into quite a talented actress.
