If you'd like to kiss him, it would be all right.

It belonged to my father, he carried it bravely in the war, and I intend to kill Tom Chaney with it if the law fails to do so.

If he is not in a shallow grave somewhere between here and Fort Smith he is gone.

You must pay for everything in this world, one way and another. There is nothing free except the grace of God.

Since the OP didn't specify the movie title, I have to ask. Is this thread supposed to be for True Grit (1969), or True Grit (2010)? It appears that there are quotes from both films in here! Given the amount of confusion lately, I think it would be a good practice for the thread author to always include the movie title and year in the original post of their thread. This has been specifically requested before (emphasis mine). The funny captions are great .. especially when the movie being quoted is announced and when non Trek images are appreciated.

Oh, I meant for it to be the Coen Bros. film. I'm not familiar enough with the original.

It looks like most, but not all of the quotes are from the remake.

Thank you. It looks like most, but not all of the quotes are from the remake. I was going to do a quote from the original but then decided to wait and see if it was the original or the remake. This is getting to be a problem. We've done quote threads for, e.g., The Fly (1958) and Little Shop of Horrors (1986). So sometimes it's the original, and sometimes it's the remake. With Hollywood remaking everything in sight, unless the OP specifies the movie title and year, there's bound to be confusion. I have to ask, because I'm maintaining the master list. But everyone who wants to participate needs to know.

I wonder how many people who saw "I Am Legend" knew that the movie had been made twice before, first as "The Last Man on Earth" and then as "The Omega Man."

Yes, most remakes have the same title as the original. But sometimes the remake is so crappy and forgettable that we don't have to worry about which Total Recall or RoboCop we're talking about. But in this case, the 2010 remake is just as well regarded as the original, hence you've got people quoting both films in the same thread. As for the three film adaptations of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend", I doubt most viewers of Will Smith's film were aware it had been made twice before.
