Acquired by Spyglass entertainment. No word on the plot or if anyone is returning...
At this point it feels tedious and silly. Unless the script (and paychecks) are amazing I'd be surprised if they come back for part 5. Maybe a reboot is the way to go?

Hollywood is creatively bankrupt. Spyglass is also remaking Hellraiser. Pathetic.

Oh please, between this and Saw, it's banging a dead horse already.
The last worthwhile Scream movie was 3. 4 was a lame moneygrab with a poor script and unlikable characters, poor pacing and lame kills.
4 tanked at the box-office, there's no reason to continue, let somethings end already like this, Saw, Paranormal Activity, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Elm Street (Robert IS Freddy accept no one else) and all need to just die.
Hope it tanks at the box-office and should show sometimes dead is better. It's time to make new horror icons and new horror franchises like The Collector for example which is something different.

It'd be pretty unwise in the age where Halloween 2018 was a huge success and Child's Play 2019 flopped to not bring back Neve and co. And I doubt they've got anything better to do.
But if Spyglass is remaking Hellraiser and haven't done a movie in 7 years, good chance they don't know what they're doing.

Somebody let anthonyrocks know! (Or not…) Seriously, though the franchise does seem to be somewhat milked, you could probably do a pretty good satire on the horror movie trend going on now. It would have to go back to those satirical roots; 3 and 4 were fairly standard slashers, though 4 had some interesting ideas that the script didn’t develop. One idea I’ve had: Ghostface starts basing his killings on other famous horror movies, saying he’s trying to cash in other franchises. E.g., he kills a babysitter on Halloween night, he puts a hockey mask on over his Ghostface mask and kills a camp counselor, etc. There should also be a spoof of true-crime podcasters. Halloween ’18 tried to do that, but it didn’t do a good job with it. Also, someone needs to work on a better twist: the first one’s effective because you don’t (or at least I didn’t) see the two killers twist coming, but every one after that (other than 3) has had two killers. Maybe go all in and, Murder on the Orient Express-style, have the whole town of Woodsboro as Ghostfaces (infuriated that every time Sidney comes back there’s another string of murders)?

If you don't mind me asking, How did you find out that News ?
Is there anywhere online I can look it up and read more about it and if so then what would be the best place ?

The headlines I saw are referring to it as 'Scream 5.' So I guess the idea is to make a sequel and, one would presume, bring back some of the original/long running cast members.
I didn't much care for the Scream 4, but at least Wes Craven directed it (even if he didn't have the control that he should have... fucking Weinsteins).
Without Wes Craven, I'd rather they just put it to rest.

... it's banging a dead horse already. Necrophilic bestiality?! I don't especially like it either, but that's a pretty serious charge.

I’m all for a Scream 5 if they do something different with the recurring characters, like maybe kill off one of the 3 as a shocker. It feels like the same story beats kept happening by keeping Sidney alive, and I don’t want that pattern to happen again.
I’m also ok with 4 being the final film, but I don’t want a reboot.

I really hope that it will be a Sequel and not a Reboot.
Thank You for the Link, I appreciate it.

I have no reason to be excited about this. Wes Craven is dead and everyone seemed pretty tired and/or over it with Scream 4. That said, if they can find a fresh angle and not just have the main trio of characters return to solve yet another series of murders, lather, rinse, repeat, then I'd be intrigued.

But yeah, you make a good point that they haven't been able to match the two killers twist. In theory, 4 could have by making the new "main character" the killer, but Jill didn't have enough screentime or character development to really sell it. I think it'd be cool if they had two killers, but they were working separately.

Any idea if this affects the tv rights? Not that I'm itching for another season but just wondering.
Is there even anyone like Wes Craven around anymore? All the horror I've seen recently is remakes or highly derivative.

They should have made Kevin Williamson's planned Scream 5 and Scream 6 back when Scream 4 came out and we still has Wes Craven.

As it stood I didn't love Scream 4, but maybe that's still possible. I don't know what plans he had, but if everyone isn't too old now it could still be done. Honestly, the best way to go now would be to offer Kevin Williamson the gig to write and direct. He's probably the only choice for director that would piss off all fans across the board.

What if Scream 5 just ignored all the sequels and was just a continuation of the first movie only? The only downside would be the title would seem weird and we'd have to endure Jamie Kennedy again.
