RT though, so not worth much. Hopefully they didn't amp up the identity politics as that was the worst part of S1. Looking forward to s2.

I didn't have time to watch S1 last year. I decided to wait until the release of S2 so I could binge-watch the whole thing. You'd think that would give me an advantage when comparing both seasons, since both would be fresh in my memory, right? Well, I'm surprisingly having a hard time remembering a lot of what happened in S1. I found S2 to be more entertaining. In the comics, Becca died because the fetus had enough power to come out of her in the middle of the pregnancy. Butcher immediately killed the baby. In the show, she and her son are still alive. Is that a good or bad change? Well, if this had been a film adaptation instead, it would've been a missed opportunity. However, the trauma of that situation maybe wouldn't have been enough material to sustain a TV series. Instead, they focused on how Homelander slowly tried to "turn" Ryan. That worked well... until the finale. Ryan shoots a laser beam in order to protect Becca from Stormfront, but accidentally hurts both of them, making him feel guilty... or at least that's the idea. It's not really clear. We don't see the laser striking Becca. Stormfront was trying to choke Becca, so maybe her hand is what caused the wound? Anyway, Becca, the dead character who turned out to be alive, is killed off again. That's not good storytelling.
When I first saw Hughie, I was shocked. Why turn a Scottish conspiracy theory fan into an everyday American? The character was modeled after Simon Pegg and they couldn't cast him in the show because he was too told. OK, but why not cast a younger actor who looked like him? However, it turned out to be a good change. In the comics, the character looked and acted a little too similar to Frenchie. Now, he's more unique. Yes, he's an Average Joe. I meant among the title characters.

I honestly find the politics the most interesting part of the show. The show is not just asking what if superheroes were real but what if superheroes were real and lived in the current day and age. If the politics were removed, it would be just another superhero show.

I agree, it's a very real examination of what supes would be like in our world but I'm talking about social identity politics, for example every woman on the show (Annie, Maeve, Kumiko, Ashley, Madison, Becca, Grace, Popclaw, Raynor) is the victim of a man. Even the Nazi was killed by a boy after being ineffectively beaten by women. The sex scene between Starlight and Hughie ... what was that? Neither are virgins but the scene was too weird not to be intentional. I don't remember the exact words but Stormfront is described by one of the producers as Homelander's worst nightmare, a strong powerful woman. Which is ridiculous considering his mommy issues with Madison. Don't get me wrong, I love the show, but there is a mean streak running through it.

She got her ass kicked and the only reason she was able to get out was because she was able to fly. As far the "girls get it done" moment, the Boys actually delivered unlike that cheesy moment in Avengers Endgame. That was just all style no substance. In the Boys the girls save the day and saved the Boys. FYI, the producer confirmed that Stormfront isn't dead. Also Raynor was the victim of another woman. I don't know what's the issue with the sex scene between Starlight and Hughie. They're a couple and they had sex twice on the show.

Also, I hadn't heard about Stormfront, that's dumb of Kripke to spoil it, what an idiot. Are you asking what was awkward and weird about Hughie's sex scene or are you agreeing that you don't know why it was so awkward and weird? Did you not think it was awkward and weird? Especially the first one where Hughie is just lying there rocking forward and back then Starlight has her little orgasm ... that was probably the most awkward sex scene I've ever seen in a movie or series.

I would say that the sex scene between that fan girl and The Deep in season one with her hands thrusting into his gills was weirder. Or the stuff between Homelander and Stillwell. I don't what's so weird about it. The sex scene between Hughie and Starlight seemed to be pretty standard as far as sex scenes go.
