DC-Fan, stop. You're not helping the rest of us dc fans look like the sane ones...
Those ladies on that sail boat didn't know what they were doing. Their boat had sails and they didn't use them. duh.
You obviously didn't get the point. It isn't about how those lades got lost or whether or not they knew how to sail. The point is that they were a single small boat in the middle of the vast ocean and no one spotted them for months. Because it's hard to spot a single small boat in the middle of the vast ocean, even during daytime. So it's practically impossible to spot a single small boat in the middle of the vast ocean at night, which is when Diana and Steve traveled from Themyscira to London.
As for the speed of the boat, like I've explained before, Hippolyta said they received many gifts from the Gods. The Lasso of Truth, which has divine powers and can compel anyone to tell the truth, was 1 such gift from the Gods. The boat was probably another gift from the Gods and thus (like the Lasso of Truth) has divine powers and that's why it can travel long distances in a short time.
MCU fans who don't know anything about Greek mythology try to dismiss that the Gods often gave humans gifts that had divine powers. The Gods gave Perseus a helmet that made the wearer invisible. The Gods gave the Amazons a lasso that can compel anyone to tell the truth. So its not unreasonable to say that the Gods gave the Amazons a boat that can travel long distances over a short time.
the difference is though Tahiti to Hawaii is a distance of 2700 miles, with nothing but a few small islands inbetween so long as you stay on course, which they didn't they got turned around and wound up 900 miles off the coast of japan which is 4000+ miles to the west of Hawaii, and much like with Tahiti has no major land masses between it and Hawaii, they literally sailed & got severely lost in the most isolated ocean on the planet, Steve's plane he crashes has at optimal levels only got a range of around a couple hundred miles at best, that's several thousands of miles to around 200, the difference is the equitable to the difference between the size of a bath and the size of a swimming pool as in they aren't really the same thing.
Add to that the idioicy of the fact a german ship or ships just followed him to the area meaning they know a enemy spy just stole the secret details of their most dangerous weapon, that they sent several boats of soldiers to find and retrieve it bbut they never came back which means theres a very good likelihood the enemy is still in the area with the notebook, this would mean the germans would have likely had boats searching the area to find him, given that the movie hinges on a short timeframe it's not like Trevor was just on the island long enough that the germans simply gave up looking.
Oh and magic boat thing is dumb given even if it could move at insane speeds those speeds would be apparent, they wouldn't appear to be sailing peacefully at a comfortable pace if the sodding thing was moving at even 50mph, they would feel the effects of that, Diana's hair would be blowing like mad to say the very least, also if it can move so fast why is it not shown that? why would Steve hitch a lift if the boat can move at high speed anyway, given that tugboats of the day didn't do more than 20mph, which means the boat they were in wouldn't be doing more than that, which means even at best speed it would take them traveling in a straight line back to where Steve came from ie the closest known mainland they knew of a whooping 10-13hrs just to get back to where Steve started from, no where near blighty..you utter plank.
