The Fog - I daresay I actually like this better than Halloween. Superb atmosphere and some great jump scares.
Friday the 13th - As I've said on another thread, paper-thin plot but has great suspense and benefits from Tom Savini's creative gore effects.
The Long Riders - Walter Hill's stylish western with Sam Peckinpah-esque direction. The Northfield, Minnesota raid sequence is a work of art!
Airplane! - The funniest movie of the year, a laugh-a-minute riot that spoofs disaster flicks.
My Bodyguard - Now this one's a childhood favorite. A teen drama about bullying that contains some warm and humorous moments. A real crowd pleaser!
The Formula - Well the book by Steve Shagan was very good, but something got lost in translation with the movie. But it is a treat watching Marlon Brando and George C. Scott working together.
The Changeling - And speaking of George C. Scott, he starred in this Canadian-made chiller. In my humble opinion, one of the most scariest movies ever made.
