Nope, it was definitely the MCU fans who started the flame war shortly after Iron Man was released. They may have just have been called Iron Man fans back then (and not MCU fans) but they're the same fandom that make up the MCU fandom today. The fact that Nolanites hold such a woeful reputation online for roughly 6 whole years says otherwise, and the roots of their annoyance trace back to 2008 when no guaranteed blockbuster or would-be blockbuster could go without somebody saying "This movie will not top Dark Knight!" and if somebody dare criticize TDK on its own board they'd get chewed up and spat right out. If you think this is all make believe and that Nolanites were a group of classy, friendly folk who treated everybody right, you are even more out of touch with reality than originally thought. Nolanites were considered worse than Twilight fans for good reason, at least Twilight fans stuck with their own crowd and didn't spread their garbage elsewhere that wasn't related to their franchise. The Nolan fanbase is an odd mixture that has almost become a religious cult. The Batman fanbase is pretty wacky to begin with what with all the "Batman can defeat Superman" nonsense. But then add in another reason for them to be "superior" (a critically acclaimed movie that made a lot of money) and it went to a whole new level. The IMDB crusade to vote down all other movies to prop up TDK was pretty infamous. And last time I looked all of Nolan's movies were at or near the top 100 of all time. Suuure....that makes sense. Take them out of the DC fan base and I think it wouldn't be bad at all. They give DC fans a bad name. I've always loved Superman, Flash, and Green Lantern and never felt any need to attack Marvel or claim that Green Lantern was superior to all other heroes. The Batman fans are the only fan base who says things like that. Goofy claims like "Iron Man is a rip off of Batman" are eye rolling. So they are both rich? Batman didn't invent that. Zorro and the Scarlet Pimpernel did it first. Batman's costume is just a rip off of Superman's with different colors and a cowl.
