This is why Joe Buck sucks. He's a bland shill with no passion or personality who will say whatever his corporate masters want him to say if they pay him well. He's a no talent joke who would never be well known if his dad didn't have connections. Smoltz is much better than McCarver so the World Series tv broadcasts are okay because of Smoltz, Buck and McCarver together were unbearable. You can say this about the vast majority of national announcers in any sport. They need to be somewhat bland so that your home town doesn't think they're playing favorites with the other team. There are exceptions of course - Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth, Mike Emerick, a few others. I think all sports broadcasts should have it that your home town announcers can be heard on the secondary audio channel. |
