"My Science Project" (1985)
... is a 1985 American comedy science fiction film directed by Jonathan R. Betuel.
Michael Harlan (John Stockwell), a high school senior, finds and steals a mysterious glowing plasma globe-like device, to pass off as his final science class project. But, while examining the orb, he and his friends learn that it can blend past and future events into the present, by drawing power from the nearby enviroment. When they hook it up to the power grid, they lose control of the device, and they must find a way to stop it, before it threatens all of mankind.

Apparently, the film didn't do as well in the theaters as other teen-sci-fi/comedy films released the same year, such as "Back to the Future", "Weird Science", and "Real Genius".
In My Opinion, I think it is a fun little popcorn flick, and it has always been one of my favorites.
