I think they prefer ones that have a fantasy element.
Gremlins I suspect will be remade at some point.
Back to the Future as well, but it would likely be a remake in title only.
They tend to be so specific to the era they were made also.
Die Hard would require more than just a cop in a building held hostage by criminals.
And they have been doing sequels right up to the present so it has to be out of circulation for sequels to even be considered for a remake.
